Perry's Declarative Title-24 Statement Regarding Replacing Glazing
lbuttery replied to dshall's topic in General Q & A
In Wash. DC it used to be ok to do kitchen replacements without a permit but too many "cheaters" would then move walls etc so DC finally required a permit to document the replacement with a final inspection Lew -
MS going to Win 8 was a good plan with a "flaw" their plan was to have one OS for all devices - good idea the "flaw" was not allowing desktop users to stay with the familiar Win7 GUI especially for those who didn't have touchscreens etc MS finally heard the "screams" and issued Win 8.1 and then some other patches and with Win 10 they are going to allow desktop users the more familiar GUI it pays to listen to your customers instead of telling "like it or lump it" Lew

set up all your cameras BEFORE making alternate plans and then make SAVE AS copies of those plans with cameras and all before making your changes Michael: too many times the client asks for an alternative afterwards or the designer thinks of a few more things to try Lew

Change Birdmouth Of Rafter After Roof Plane Is Built
lbuttery replied to dshall's topic in General Q & A
Scott: I was taught that once the roof is built it is independent of the walls this was before auto-build features were added but I'm guessing that with auto-build off walls and roofs are still "independent" Lew -
Jason: I'd look real hard to find a way to make $1000 using Chief that's only 1-3 projects a year Lew
-
Jason: Chief X6 with an active SSA should sell for about $500 less than full price since your SSA is almost ready to expire in Dec and X7 MAY be released in Feb then you may need to take a few hundred more off Lew
-
Len: yes, you are mis-reading it once a roof has manual edits it can be difficult to switch back to auto-roof kinda like a one-way street for that roof but the next roof should start as auto and only go manual as needed I personally do auto-roofs the majority of the time once manual is needed my partner takes over while I can fool around with manual - its probably best that I don't my recommendations is that 1. anyone only using manual roofs should learn auto roofs also 2. anyone only using auto-roofs should learn manual roofs also if I didn't have my partner I would be forced to learn manual roofs better than my limited skills are currently since I'm retired I'll probably not bother .... Todd: somehow I missed the link sorry Lew
-
Len: where did I say that ??? I have been an advocate for auto-gen ever since starting with ver 9.5 Lew
-
Jason: Any feature that Chief has that PRO doesn't would likely be non-editable probably best to discuss with CA's sales or tech support PRO can do renders but not raytracing PRO has a 1 page layout with minimal layout tools you can have many pages but only one page open at a time many other limitations as PRO costs approx. 20% of Chief is there any way to earn $500 via Chief to justify the SSA fee ??? Lew

look around your area and see what garage mechanics charge and skilled handymen and basic plumbers and other trades then consider your skills for the services you offer then charge a getting started rate with the intent to raise it\ after you have a few projects completed and have a proven track record keep track of your bid success percentage if you are getting 60% or more of every job you bid on - you're rate is probably too low if you are getting less than 30% - you're rate may be too high or you stink as a salesman or have bad breath or ??? Lew

a pic or plan would probably help get better answers Lew

Todd: no lighting manager that I know of remember most video cards can only use 8 lights at a time RT's can use unlimited lights however, more = longer time Lew

CA recommends learning auto-roofs as 24+ roof styles can be done via auto-gen then using manual as needed in general once you use manual for a roof system you need to stop using auto this is why I have been advocating for being allowed to marquee a section and having auto apply only to that section some how I doubt if we will ever have this feature Lew
-
Nicinus: are you doing RT's that use cpu ram ??? and that are not using the video card ??? or is it only chief that makes that distinction ??? I'm not clear where the high poly count roadblock is maybe CA's tech support can clarify ??? Lew
-
you probably have to do the new roof manually one trick is to create the addition then copy the plan and build the roof with auto-gen in the copy then copy the addition roof planes to the original plan using edit area hold position I have asked for almost a decade for the ability to draw a marquee around an area and have the auto-gen build the roof for only that area Lew

video ram helps for render cpu ram for raytracing Lew

evenly spaced along a 500 foot road Rich: Chief can do this using the distributed path tool or the multi-copy tool as for the variation in height ??? probably have to be done manually as for the no look-alike - that would have to be done manually maybe Landscape Pro can do it ??? http://prolandscape.com/en/software/ Lew
-
if you didn't save that info you can contact CA's customer service or tech support and they can probably give it to you again Lew
-
maybe the digital locker maybe when you registered you were suppose to save it somewhere ? I've always had the hardware lock so I've never needed an emergency password Lew
