  1. Hi Aaron, I just messaged you. I'm in the Stillwater area. Thanks -DG
  2. Thanks for the short video Justin. I was unaware of the ability to remove a lot of tangents in that manner quickly. I imagine it could get a little tricky if you're working on complicated roof planes that intertwine.
  3. I've questioned the lack of a simple method also. In complex examples, it takes much effort to zoom in, grab the correct 'handle' and slide it to precise points. Often I end up creating tangents that require starting the process all over again. The other item that would be helpful would be a way to bisect polylines; breaking one into two or more complete shapes.
  4. Sent you a PM regarding your project. Thanks -DG
  5. I left you a PM regarding your project. Thanks -DG
  6. This may be a simplistic question: How long are you waiting for the image to render? My computer will show this screen (your posting image) immediately and it will take a couple of minutes before an actual image becomes visible.
  7. Thanks for the heads up Mick. Unfortunately all that you guys are talking about is way over my head. I trust the people that sold me the Dell. As you said, much of it's abilities are remarkable considering how old it is. These were about $4500 new back in 2009. My next efforts will researching the ability of my machine to be upgraded a little. Otherwise, I will look into another Precision as they can be custom built with more than enough ability to hold me over for a long time. They were marketed at being a mobile workstation, meaning having all the conveniences of mobility and yet massive power. My first Precision was also very good. It had 1 Tb of memory which was unheard of for a mobile back in 2005 or so. The current Precision I have was probably my mistake when buying as I opted for the graphics that were more for CAD vs. another that had graphics more for gaming. I thought that Architects don't need a gaming computer. Apparently CA likes the gaming graphics stuff though. My bad.
  8. I did restart the computer. So, it can't be that. I definitely don't want to invest in a new computer. Updating software shouldn't require this especially since my machine meets the parameters of the program according to Chief. It would be nice to just upgrade the graphics. I don't know if my Dell has the ability or if the software is proprietary. Never heard of Evga. But that doesn't mean much since I am very computer illiterate!
  9. Mick, The program downloads fine and says it's updating the driver but unfortunately it still says version 15.2. Maybe the drivers are just too old and outdated.
  10. Thanks Brian. I appreciate the information. -DG
  11. I have to agree with Larry. Here in Minnesota passive-agressive behavior is rampant. As one supposedly helps another they are secretly resentful for having to do so. Of course they never say anything before helping like 'I don't want to help you'. Rather, they do it under a self-imposed duress and later lash out at the person they helped! There is an expectation that the person they helped should have known, somehow, that the helper never wanted to help to begin with. Kind of like reading your wife's mind. There is a phrase they use here called Minnesota nice. Those of us not indigenous to the area refer to it as Minnesota Ice. On the surface people seem 'nice'. But more times than not residents harbor an anger caused by their own inability to express their emotions that festers and comes out sideways at the oddest, seemingly bizarre times. No-one knows everything about CA or anything else. We're all on a spectrum here and in life. People learn in many different ways. This forum is just ONE tool used for learning CA. If one doesn't want to share their knowledge and experience, that's their choice and always an option. If they don't, that's also and option and choice. What is not productive to this or any other forum is an underlying tone by members of resentment. It undermines the good will that should be inherent to this concept. You have helped me Eric and I have been appreciative of that assistance. Now I am going to look at that exchange differently. As Larry stated: Not helpful or productive. We all have bad days and venting seems like the only option. I would just caution anyone to wait before hitting the send key and reconsider if this is best for EVERYONE. -DG
  12. Mick, I think I have it figured out. I played with the Ambient Occlusion toggle under Camera Speculation and it eliminated the concentric/bullseye problem. There is some fine tuning needed to reduce or eliminate the aura problem and the quality of the picture but feels like a big step. I will keep playing with adjustments to get things fine tuned and then ascertain I save everything. Thanks for your ideas and inputs.
  13. OK. I've got to wrap it up for tonight. I will start fresh tomorrow. Thanks much.
  14. Looks like our emails crossed. What is the program you want me to download?
  15. It worked this time. I think this is what I downloaded earlier, but regardless it seems to have worked. I don't see anything in the control panel that says to switch graphics. There is several different menus. Is there a way I can send you a picture of the control menu?
  16. Alright. I tried to download it twice and it tells me it failed both times. When I click on the help offered it sends me to the internet that then suggest I download something called WinThrust which is supposed to figure out why it's having a problem. This is where I normally stop because I'm not sure if this is a legitimate program to download. Thoughts?
  17. Yes. It is the one I used earlier today that put the gaming control thingy on my computer.
  18. Thanks Mick. I downloaded as suggested. Attached is what it says. Hope that helps 'cause it kind of means nothing to me! M6600.speccy
  19. In my effort to update my video driver I may have inadvertently downloaded some kind of gaming control center. When I right click on my desktop it shows something called "AMD Gaming Evolved'. There does not appear to be any menus in this control center to control switchable graphics as you suggest. I'm just not a computer person and REALLY don't know what the hell I'm doing. I appreciate your willingness trying to help Mick.
  20. Doh! Looks like everyone else has things working just fine. What is frustrating is that I have so much actual work to do and the time spent 'rectifying' the program upgrade is lost. Aren't things supposed to be better when we upgrade? Thanks for letting me vent. Please know I appreciate both of you taking time our of YOUR schedules to give me your feedback. I tried updating my AMD drivers but it seems to make no difference. Felt like it was only an ad for their product by the time all was done. I looked Mark but can't find that screen you are referencing above for the AMD adjustments. Maybe tech support will be able to walk me through.
  21. OK. Here is what it says: AMD Radeon HD 6900M Series. Not sure that was one you had listed. Don't feel comfortable going into the 'video card control panel' and don't understand what you're describing. I did try turning bloom off with no effect. When I turn off 'sun follow camera', things are much worse. Computer doesn't seem to like that. I really don't want to HAVE to invest in new computer because of the program update. Maybe there's a way to modify what I have? Do you know if a computer person could modify what I have or is it proprietary? Attached is the plan as requested. Thanks again Mark. -DG Modern_Farmhouse_1_Version_X10.plan
  22. Mark, I am definitely using Standard view; PBR is MUCH worse. I'm not much of a computer person nor do I pretend to understand all the specs. I rely on others to tell me what the best system is for my needs. For many years I have been using a Dell Precision. A very powerful (and heavy) laptop that also serves as a desktop when connected though it's docking station. It has worked very well for up until this X10 update. My current model is the M6600. Here are the specs I could find: Intel Core I7 vpro. 2640M-CPU @ 2.8 GHz 16.0 GB RAM 64 bit operating system I don't know where to find anymore info on it. This is what comes up on it's system information page.
  23. Is anyone else experiencing the poor rendering problems I am with X10? Several different things seem to be happening with standard rendering: Concentric circles. Poor lighting. Grainy pictures. Auras around items. I attached some examples pics and will also forward to support. I know others have talked of rendering challenges with X10 and am wondering if they were able to correct or have corrected. Thanks in advance.
