Spancrete/Pre-cast/Structural concrete floors

Thanks Michael. That will take care of the cross section problem for this application. I will follow your suggestion to manipulate the solids for easier overall use. -DG -
Spancrete/Pre-cast/Structural concrete floors
WoodlandDesign replied to WoodlandDesign's topic in General Q & A
Jerry or anyone, Do you know if there is a simple way to stretch these to extend the length of a garage while viewing in cross section view? They stretch in plan view but in cross section they do not. It seems like the object is locked perhaps? I have tried resizing in the symbol specification DBX but don't seem to be able to change. I've attached a screen shot of the view I am trying to detail. Thanks in advance. -DG -
I think the client thought the designer was using X9.
-
I didn't realize that. How can you tell that Mick?
-
Not sure how I missed that. Thank you.

For some reason the file didn't attach. Kory_Mortel_Concept_A.plan

Hi all, I inherited a design from a client that was created in Chief by another designer. I have modified the plan heavily but in both the original plan file and the new one I seem to not be able to make the foundation walls/ftgs. and deck framing appear while rendering. I don't see anything turned off in the layers that would typically be the culprit. Anyway, I'm attaching the file for anyone to peruse should they choose to do so. Maybe I'm missing something basic but I just don't know what it is. Any input would be greatly appreciated as always! Thanks in advance -DG

I thought it would be nice to be able to draw the hollow core structural pieces in plan and have them show correctly in CAD details/cross sections. The Sketchup items look like they could work. I'll check them out to see if they translate into 2D and cross sections. Thanks for your input guys. -
I've tried searching for pre-cast/Spancrete/structural concrete, etc. but am not coming up with anything. I certainly can't be the first person on here creating a room beneath a garage and am wondering what others are doing to detail this in plans and/or cross sections. I'd like to specify this correctly and know others must have already figured out a way. If there is a buzz word that brings up history of this topic in the forms please let me know and I will search accordingly. Any input (constructive) would be appreciated! Thanks in advance.

Thanks Mick. That took care of it.

I seem to have lost my Project Browser DBX. It's checked as being on and I've double-checked the Preferences DBX but can't find it. I've looked in all the corners of my screen, moved toolbars around, etc. but I just don't see what may have happened to it. Attached is a screen shot if that helps. Has anyone experienced or heard of this? Thanks in advance. -DG

We have expanded our new home design/remodeling business and are in need of someone familiar with Chief Architect or similar software to do plan detailing. This position requires local presence and we are not entertaining remote offers. We are opening the offer to candidates possessing varying talents and/or experience. Those encouraged to reply: Recent graduates or existing students of technical colleges. Interior designers with CAD experience. Lumberyard/home improvement employees with CAD and/or take-off and layout experience. Existing new construction/remodeling drafters working for builders/contractors/designers that want more flexibility, independence and control over their work schedule and load. Independent CAD drafters/designers regardless of software being utilized. We are an architectural design firm with established, long-term clients whose needs exceed our current capabilities. We specialize in custom, original designs and foster an environment that welcomes the free-flow exchange of ideas. Our team goal is to produce well detailed plans that are easy to understand and produce. If this is the type of environment that you would like to work, please PM me to discuss this opportunity. We look forward to hearing from you. -DG

Didn't see that heart icon over there. Thanks.

How do I give you a positive reply?

That was it. I rushed to get some cross section done and put the trusses in. I'll remember that doing them in order makes all the difference. Thanks much!
-
No. It is not.

I've played around with this quite a bit and don't see what I'm doing incorrectly. The second floor north wall (top of screen) will not frame for me and I don't know why. All the other walls have done so without trouble. I've manipulated the wall connections, checked and double-checked wall properties, etc., nothing seems to help. I don't remember having this problem ever before. Any input would be appreciated. Thanks in advance for your help. 3832_Aldrich_Proposed_Plan_E.plan

No layout file received from client but I just stumbled upon the solution. I went into the framing annotation set to check something and when I closed the DBX the missing default layer sets appeared in the Active Layer Sets drop down box! Very strange but glad I found the answer. Thanks for the input guys.
-
But I'm using Chief doesn't that mean I should have them?
-
I only get the default layer set when I link back from the layout pages. I want to be able to utilize, for example, the regular framing or roof plan sets but they don't exist without me creating them. I don't understand why they aren't in my drop down tab under Active Layer Set Control. I assume because I imported the plan from Designer that it has something to do with it. Does that make sense?

I received a plan file from one of my builder clients that was created in Designer. For the most part it transferred to Chief but the plan sets seem to be missing their full menu. (Please see screenshot). Is anyone familiar with this and/or does anyone know the solution to obtaining the rest of the plan sets? I'm thinking there must be a reset option or similar.... Thanks in advance. -DG
