Just to reiterate: The pattern libraries are the only libraries that seem to be missing files. ALL the other libraries have migrated correctly and are accessible as normal. It's only when I choose to select a pattern through it's DBX for a particular item (such as flooring or roofing) do I experience the problem. I have 're-migrated' the files several times through the new X12 feature to no avail. I also have opened plans with X11 and a particular pattern I'm searching for and tried the 'add to library' option. Still, not accessible even after resetting.
-
I should add that all libraries are accessible as normal in every other situation.
-
It was a pattern from the Chief library and not one of my own. It does not appear my user library nor anything other than the Chief core library is accessible when choosing a patter in the DBX. This capture shows what I see when I try to choose a pattern. Only the core library has an arrow next to it.

This is a roof pattern that I've used for years and cannot find in the X12.... There are also several others but don't have time to forward right now.
-
This is what I'm seeing.
-
In the library when selecting a pattern. The core library is the only one made available when choosing. The bonus, manufacturer and user libraries are not accessible. And when I open the core library there are fewer patterns available than before.

Did I import/migrate something incorrectly or did numerous patterns (shingles, wood, stone, tile, etc.) disappear in X12? It seems like I only have about a quarter of what I used to have in X11. I realize there is the new feature that allows for syncing patterns and textures but I miss some of my standard favorites and don't know why they didn't 'carry over'. Are we supposed to search for and import these individually? I don't see anything in the archives addressing this.

We have expanded our new home design and remodeling business and are in need of someone familiar with Chief Architect or similar software to do plan detailing. This position requires local presence and we are not entertaining remote offers. We are opening the offer to candidates possessing varying talents and/or experience. Those encouraged to reply: Recent graduates or existing students of technical colleges, interior designers with CAD experience, lumber yard/home improvement/trade specific employees with CAD and/or take-off experience, existing new construction/remodeling drafters working for builders/contractors/designers that want more flexibility, independence and control over their work schedule and load, independent CAD drafters/designers. We are an architectural design firm with established, long-term clients whose needs exceed our current capabilities. We specialize in custom, original designs and foster an environment that welcomes the free-flow exchange of ideas. Our team goal is to produce well detailed plans that are easy to understand and produce. If this is the type of environment that you would like to work in, please PM or call me to discuss this opportunity. We look forward to hearing from you. -DG

Actually, I thought I had done just that Joe. Sometimes my changes and layer assignments don't seem to 'lock'. I'm sure it's something I'm doing incorrectly, however with what seems like sporadic success, frustration levels rise quickly.
-
That worked Dermot. Sometimes it seems there are almost too many places that adjustments can be made. I find that confusing, if that makes sense. Thanks all.

I'm using kitchen and bath layer set for elevations. I've adjusted annotations and defaults.
-
I have spent too much time trying to understand how to adjust cabinet labels in Elevation Views so I'm raising the white flag. What I've tried: Adjusting defaults under text, schedules. Modifying schedule DBX settings within the schedules. Resetting and/or deleting the cabinet schedule and starting over. Closing the plan files and starting over. Reviewing archives in ChiefTalk and support. In my sample, I simply want to make the label smaller. I have only been able to manipulate the label (circle) size. The text doesn't seem to want to cooperate. What am I doing wrong? Thanks in advance.

VIDEO LESSON: How To - Window/Door Lintels
WoodlandDesign replied to SNestor's topic in Tips & Techniques
Great video on lintels Steve. Easy to follow the steps with your clear demonstration and instruction. I have struggled with these in the past and didn't know what I was doing incorrectly until now. Thanks for sharing this information! -DG -
Thanks Mick. This will work great! -DG

Has anyone used or created pre-stressed concrete WALL panels in CA? I am looking to detail such for a project and didn't know if others had solutions they would be willing to share? I have inserted ICF walls from the DBX but was wondering if there was a more specific wall type that could be used. Thanks in advance. -DG
-
Never noticed that little box all by itself at the bottom of the DBX before. That will work. Thanks Perry.

How do I discern existing from new? Under description? If so, how is that controlled in the schedule?
-
I have created door schedules for individual rooms that are located side by side. By doing this, each of the room's door schedules creates it's own label for doors that share rooms. This creates duplication that is unwanted. See attached picture. I have looked unsuccessfully for a solution OTHER than creating a schedule for the whole floor. This is not desired as this is a remodel/addition and I only want schedules for the new areas. I am running X11, if that matters. Thoughts/ideas/solutions? Thanks in advance. -DG

If you are still in need of help, let's talk. I can work hourly, flat rate or open to discussion. My contact info is below. -
Please don't use my personal affiliation with this site to solicit business.

Thanks everyone. It's clear there are several ways to do this which, in their own way, accomplish the intended goals. I will experiment with the different techniques to create a standardized method which I can use repeatedly.
-
By doing this can lines be adjusted to appear like line drawings?
-
Does anyone know if CA can create a basic, non-detailed 'sketch' of a complete plan? See my attached sample. I would like to provide clients an overly simplified floor plan without the technical jargon so it's brief enough to share without giving away construction details. This one is created using Sketchup. I don't want to have to draw up another floor plan. I just want to 'convert' that which was created. I hope that makes sense. Thanks in advance.
