  1. To be honest I don't think I opened my Launch Help since I downloaded X12, but when I did I got this. I never had this happen before since v10. What are my options? Has this ever happened to anyone else? Did I hit the wrong "something" when downloading X12? As always, all advice will be much appreciated.
  2. I was a builder for over 45 yrs. and I see no problem with this fascia other than the drip edge should extend at a minimum of at least another one half inch beyond the top fascia board. I see no reason to criticize the detail. What little bit I see of the house it looks like it fits in win the "horizontal" theme.
  3. Dermot...……..….Thanks for the info. After looking at the "fix" I decided to contact my son-in-law. He's a computer techy. If I can make the problem occur again I'll send it into support. Have a great day.
  4. To be clear, I don't have or much understand "computer savvy". I was having a problem with CA X12 this morning and it keep closing the program. I finally discovered why and worked around the problem, but the last time CA closed unexpectedly and I went to reopen it I got this message. I have noticed that it is definitely working slower. What does this message mean and how can I get it unenabled? I've tried closing the program and reopening it, but I keet getting this same message before it would open. As I said earlier, I'm not very computer savvy so please bear with me. All advice will be much appreciated.
  5. I've been using a 55" Hisense since January. I have had no issues and love it. I use that and a pair of Hp 2511 on the side.
  6. To All...….…………….Thank you for your time and advice. Got it! Be safe and have a great day.
  7. Mark...….…………..Thanks for the info. My wife has some "projects" for me at the moment. As soon as I can I'll play around with the info you gave. This should give me something to work with. Be safe and have a great day. I'll keep you all posted.
  8. Mark...….………….Not quite sure how to use the lever to work with. Those items aren't like a conventional symbol where you can "open" them up from the library and check their origins. Is it "origins" what you are referring too or am I in a different "ballpark"?
  9. Here I am again. I made a late 18th century plate latch for a door (way to much time on my hands ) and I'm trying to get it to place correctly on the door. On one side of the door I have the plate latch and on the other just a round brass knob. I call for the set back to be 2 3/4" which places the single brass knob correctly, but the plate latch is placed on the door as shown in the attachment. I've tried adjusting the "Origin Offset" for the plate latch symbol but the plate latch will not go any closer to the edge even if I tell it to be zero inches from the edge. The round knob on the other side will move to the edge, but not the latch plate. It seems like CA "reads" the edge of the symbol when next to the edge of the door. Then as it move in on the stile it starts to read the center of the symbol for placing. When CA places a lever latch it uses the correct area on the symbol for placing the lever latch. In doing that I'm thinking they must be using some kind of "Origin Offset" to accomplish this. If I need to I'll attach the latch and brass knob symbol along with the door in a wall plan file in a later thread. Any ideas?
  10. It's stretching like it should on my end now and I didn't do anything other than rebooting the program. Thanks to all for taking the time and advice. Be safe and have a great day.
  11. Here is the Door 8 Panel Colonial Door.calibz
  12. Eric...…………..Not sure how to send just the symbol
  13. Here is a wall with the door installed in it Mark...….………..My door looks like it has the same stretch zones as yours. COLONIAL DOOR.plan
  14. I made a 32"x80' door symbol and placed the "X" and "Z" stretch planes shown in red in the attachment. When I make the symbol wider it stretches in the panels where I want it to (door on right in attachment). When I make the door taller it stretches all the panels and rails uniformly seemingly to not use my "Z" placed planes. Where should I position the horizonal stretch planes so just the larger panels stretch?
  15. Rene................I've been playing around with this "problem", which was kind of on the same thoughts as Eric's solution. I'll try to explain it to you. I think this is a partial work around in trying to get CA to correctly display what I'm showing in the cad detail I'm showing in my previous thread. I still have work to do. 1. I made a wall that had 1 3/4" studs (1/2 the thickness a 3 1/2" wall) and put plasterboard and plaster on just the exterior side. On the interior side of the Main Layer I set the line weight to zero. I then installed a door recessed to the main layer, Separate Trim and Materials on Each side Options dbx. checked and Interior casing turned off. 2. I drew a line parallel to the wall and copied reflect about. 3. I then change the copied wall hinged door to a doorway and labeled that wall as a "furred wall. 4. I brought the two walls together. 5. I added the framing just to show, what I think is the only downfall in this work around, which is 2 studs being placed at each location side by side because of the half thickness wall. I think this "might" be a better work around than Eric's suggestion. As with any (or most) work arounds it can be a PITA especially if there are a lot of doors/doorways in a project. It, I think, would be much easier if CA would just give us an option to recess the casing on either/or or both sides of a wall.--------------Any thoughts?
  16. Rene............…......…. Can you "show" me how this works? I played with changing the jamb to 3 1/2" but the casing does not come into the studs like I want them to. "Inset box" just offsets the jamb location while the casings remain on the outside of the plaster. Am I missing some other setting? The cad detail in the attachment shows how I accomplish the framing/trim for this particular trim detail. As you can see I'm showing rabbeted jambs also.------------another issue.
  17. I do a lot of restorations or design homes to appear as 18th or early 19th century homes as nearly as possible with today's "modern standards". One of the many items that bugs me is when using built up casings on doors and windows with the casing being placed on the studs on the interior walls. This, of course, means on both sides of a door on an interior wall this has to be accomplished. When setting up the interior door defaults I check the "Recessed" box to Main Layer. The problem is CA only recesses one side (exterior side). I've tried many things for a work around, but as of yet I haven't found an acceptable one. Does anyone have a solution/work around for this? Up to now I've tried to just ignore the problem by adding notes and many cad details. Doing this "time" when things are really slow, I figure, is a good time to give this and "other" issues more thought. Any and all thoughts/advice is always much appreciated.
  18. Mick...….………...That did help a lot. It's still not perfect, but it is definitely better. I can live with it anyway . Thank you. Be safe and have a great day
  19. I'm not sure if I'm doing something wrong or this is the way it has to be. I'm trying to model these 18th century balusters and I can't get the material to show correctly. In the attachment the baluster on the left the material is applied using the same material for both the square areas and the turned areas with the "A" results. I rotated the texture 90 degrees on the "turned" areas and it applied the texture with "B" look. I'm trying to get the grain to look like "C" on the entire baluster. Is this possible? For the turned area I made a molding profile, made a I/16" circle for the molding polyline and applied the molding profile to it. The squares are p-solids. I think this would be the correct way to make these balusters, but after trying to apply the walnut grain material I'm thinking there might be a better way to make the symbol to get the correct material "looking" results. I'm thinking when you add a wood grain material to the "regular" baluster there isn't an issue like I'm having with the material. I have to set out for a couple of hours so I won't be able to get back to any comments or advice for awhile. Thank you and be safe.
  20. I just need some clarification on this matter. For some reason I thought that once a layout was printed it didn't matter that in layout you had a "live view" or "plot lines w/color fill" the elevations would come out sharp in the .pdf file. The lower attachment shows what my cabinet elevation looks like with the two camera view options in layout and the top attachment what it look like after printed to .pdf. Is this the way color elevations are suppose to be? I don't remember having this type of issue before or at least this severe of a difference. I would like to use the plot lines/color fill option so I would be able to edit the extra lines on the cabinet in the elevation view, but the fuzzy coloring is unacceptable. Am I doing something wrong, a work around or is this just the way it is now?
  21. Robert and Ryan...………………….. I'll probably go with your advice Robert because of the area I'm trying to fit the schedule into. I hope that at some point in time CA gives us move spacing control. Dermot...……………………………….Yes. Even with this checked I have 3 or 4 extra spacing lines between my printed lines. I was hoping that maybe by taking the grid lines off the spacing would change. Thanks to everyone for their time and advice. It's always very much appreciated. Have a great day.
  22. Is there a work around to decrease the spacing between lines in the wall schedule without completely making a schedule from scratch? I tried changing the schedule to TEXT, but I lost all the wall type images.
  23. Joe...………………….. Yes, that was simple. I was sure I was overlooking something simple...…….but what? You don't know what you don't know! Thank you for your time and patience. Have a great day.
  24. Maybe (probably) I'm going about this all wrong but in trying to answer my question through searching ChiefTalk search, Knowledge Base, Training Videos and YouTube I'm not getting anywhere. This is my thought process------- I made a note schedule for my first floor. Now I want to make a completely separate note schedule for my second floor. My question is, what is the process? I've tried naming different note schedules for the different plan views etc., etc.. In all instances as soon as I go to "Tools" and dropdown to Schedules and open a note schedule on my Second Floor Plan View the note schedule from the first floor shows up with extra numbers in each of the note labels. What these extra numbers are all for I have no idea. Isn't there a way to be able to start a new note schedule for each floor? If there is clarification on this subject somewhere OUT THERE just guide me to it. I'm sure I'm missing a simple thought process on this subject, but I'm getting very frustrated. I spent way to much time trying to figure this problem out.
