  1. Eric.................Yes. I found it also just after I posted the thread. It was a "senior moment"! Now where's my coffee? Thanks for taking the time and have a great day.
  2. I'm working with framed cabinets. I want to extend the face frame 3/4" beyond one side on the face of a cabinet. (I refer this as a "cabinet ear") I thought that this was possible in CA now, but I can't find any info on how to do this. Am I having another "senior moment" or can this be accomplished? If so, pointing me toward the information will be much appreciated. Thank you.
  3. The problem I was having trying to insert outlets into the backsplash area was that that area was not a wall, but part of the overall cabinet structure. When I first "built" the island I had made the backsplash out of a countertop which of course CA would not let me put an outlet in. I finally resolved the issue by making the backsplash between the countertops using a cabinet. With it being a cabinet CA would install the outlet. I loaded a plan showing the island I put "together" to get the look and dimensions I wanted. In looking at this island design I've put together, is there a better/more logical way to build the design I'm showing in the plan? Was the "work around" using a cabinet for a backsplash the best solution in this case? I much appreciate all your help and advice. Have a great day. Kitchen Island.zip
  4. I have a 36" high kitchen island with a 42" high sit-up bar on one side. I'm trying to install outlets in the 6" backsplash between the counter height and the bar height. Is there a "trick" or work around to accomplish this. Yes, I know it's a holiday, but I'm up to my ears in work, quarantine at home with Covid, and bored. As always, any and all help much appreciated.
  5. Mark.........................N-I-C-E!! Have a great weekend.
  6. Eric & Mark.......................Thank you. Greatly appreciated for taking the time. Yes Eric, the difference in the door offset bugs me also. Have a great weekend!
  7. Eric...................Here's a simple plan using a 3d solid as the "inset" bottom for the wall cabinet. This is the look I was trying to achive with just the cabinet specification dbx. Thanks for taking the time. wall cabinet.zip
  8. I'm trying to figure a way to raise a wall cabinet bottom up inside 1" for under cabinet lighting. I'm having framed inset door cabinets with the bottom of the door going all the way down to the bottom of the cabinet. (no bottom rail on cabinet) I'm using 2" stiles and rails on both the cabinet and door. I would like to show the top side of the bottom slab of the cabinet flush with the top edge of the 2" bottom door rail. Is this possible in CA or a better work around then what I'm doing? So far (work around) the only way I can achieve this is by not having a bottom in the cabinet and manually installing a p-solid bottom once I have the cabinets on the wall. I know this description is quite "wordy", but I hope you understand what I'm explaining.
  9. Levis................Thank you so much for the macros. Eric..................As always, you clarify and give "good points" and study material. Too all.............Info very much appreciated. Have a great day and 4th of July!
  10. I'm not "up" on macros. Is there a macro for door labels that would show the label for, let's say, a 30" wide door as 2/6 or a 32" wide as 2/8 etc., etc.? If I want, is there a "place" I can learn how to write macros? Well, at least a basic understanding of them.
  11. Robert................I just went through a "senior moment". I was changing the text style/size on the door and window layers instead of the door LABEL and window LABEL layers. Some days this getting "old" is rough on the mind. Thanks for "bearing" with me. Have a great day.
  12. I changed the text style/size for my door & window labels in my Layer options but when I install a new window or door in a wall the label doesn't change to the new text style/size. This procedure works for room labels as per "Knowledge Base". What am I missing/doing wrong? As always, thank you for your time and knowledge.
  13. Eric........................I think I got it! Thank you for you time and knowledge. Have a great day.
  14. Yes Eric, you are correct. I finally did find the thread in a follow-up search. I did a couple of earlier searches, but both of those times I guess I didn't look far enough. You mentioned in your work around that there are times your walls re-merge back together. That's the problem I'm having now. Is there a work around for this "wall merging? I've tried reversing layers, but that's developing other problems it seems.
  15. I'm building a pony wall consisting of 12" blocks on the lower and one row of 6" block as the upper. I'm using a "wall niche" for the beam pocket which is in the first two courses at the top of the 12" block lower wall and is 6" deep. In the render view everything looks as it should be, but in the plan view it (sort of) shows the niche in both the 6" and 12" blocks even if I turn off the wall niche layer. Is there a way to show the pocket only in the 12" wall as shown by the red dashed line? I think I've tried all avenues, but to no avail. Is there a better way to make a beam pocket and have it shown correctly? Is this considered a bug? As always, I appreciate all advice.
  16. Levis & Chopsaw...................Thanks for getting back to me so quickly. Yes, those were the threads I was looking for. The one problem I find with this solution, unless I'm doing something wrong, is that you get the "almost" correct look for garage doors, but for a walk-in door the exterior casing extends to the bottom of the concrete floor finish. On the garage door I get a thin layer of the jamb across the boot of the garage door on top of the cement. I guess we just "live with it" and hope that someday CA will fix this. Have a great day.
  17. A while back I read a thread explaining how to make CA show the garage floor extend out under the garage door to the exterior side of the block wall. I can't locate that thread. Can someone "guide " me to it's location. Many thanks.
  18. Are all the roof pitches the same? If they aren't you will have to adjust the fascia and sub fascia sizes on one of the pitches so they all line up correctly.
  19. Glenn.....................Thanks for that reminder. The "little guy" upstairs between my ears just slapped me saying "I KNEW THAT!!". Can I blame it on being an old fart? Have a great day.
  20. To All........................I ended up going back to an earlier version of the project where the walls showed correctly and copied the two "problem" walls forward to my final version and they show as they should. I still am not sure what the problem is/was (something with the walls themselves), but due to my time restraints I had to move on. If at some point in the near future the problem shows up on this plan or another I'll post the plan. Problems like this can be so frustrating and time consuming at times. Thanks to all for your advice and taking your time to help me out. Have a great day.
  21. Robert........................Sorry I didn't get back to you earlier. I had to see a client and just got back. To answer your question-----------yes, they are both checked.
  22. I was in the process of making some renderings for a client on a design remodel project when I noticed a couple of walls with the siding not going to the foundation. Earlier in the project they were fine. It's only on two exterior walls of many. I've compared the problem walls with ones that are correct and I can't find the problem or the "cure". The problem walls show the rim joist and sills. Just not the siding going to the foundation. On the other side of the house the problem wall is divided up with three different rooms and the end room's exterior wall going away from the corner is acting as it should (WALL2 attachment). This, I think, is telling me it's not somehow a "room problem". I'm sure this subject has been brought up before, but I can't find the thread with a search (as of yet). I'm not adding the plan at this time because it's very large, so I'm hoping it's something simple I'm overlooking. As always, all help is much appreciated.
  23. Eric.................Thank you. That "fixed" the problem. Did you remember this "fix" from memory or did you find it in a search? If from a search, what wording for the search did you use? I had no luck in my search. If this is an "old bug" then there is no need for reporting? Thanks again and have a great day.
  24. I'm attempting to install recessed lighting on the first floor ceiling of a balcony above. I've tried labeling the rooms and walls above differently in hopes to fix my "problem", but so far I haven't found a fix. I'm not sure at this point if it's something I'm doing wrong or if it is a CA bug. I simplified the plan and CA reacts the same. When I install a recessed light in the ceiling everything is as it should be, but if I move the light to where there is a wall above, covering more than half the recessed light below, CA installs the light in the cathedral ceiling above on the second floor. I don't ever remember having a problem like this before, but I might have been just lucky over the years. I'm supplying the simplified plan along with .jpgs showing what I'm referring too. Is this a bug or me? Of course, as always, any and all help will be much appreciated. ROBBINS SAMPLE.zip
