  1. and after selecting via edit area, select transform and replicate and move x or y distance
  2. on the status bar, lower right corner. if you pan tha camera you should see it restart from 0
  3. detached garages do not require insulation as they are unheated (95% of the time)
  4. what might that be? we frame like this, at least that is what i have seen
  5. a gable end truss would have zero heel as it would need room for the outlookers. but it also cant have tails so what CA draws is incorrect. but in theory if I set the overhang to 0 (or close to), one could get the lowest possible height of a building by having a zero heel height
  6. I as well, pretty much all buildings up here have an energy heel, so to me the VSD is a value I would rareley use. The exception might be for a garage to ge the minimum height. But based on the screenshot above it shows the VSD, so one can just put that number in the heel hieght. it would be nice if it warned or did something if the specified heel height was less than the VSD.
  7. if you are using X15 there is a denoiser in the camera setup. I generally cap the live samples as 300 and set the "denoise when complete". the white dots should go away on the bottom right in the status bar you will see the samples increasing every time you move the camera. once you hit 300 (if you set it to that). it should stop and then denise
  8. yes makes sense now that you have explained it . Thank you it was an inateresting look, the faux stucco window
  9. hmm, i think i pulled the wall up earlier when I had the gable roof lower ... but the default wall heights are greyed out so it must be autogenerated?? if I redraw the 2nd floor wall, then there CA creates the upper and lower wall, but then the lower wall shows as not the default wall height, and then if I check it, it goes back to being a two story wall any idea how to fix it? 694 Muirfield Cr - fe.zip
  10. any ideas why this might happen if i pull down the wall:
  11. This is a different case. Nothing gets selected
  12. nvm, it is trying to match the hip, otherwise the gable would go back to eternity
  13. looks good: move the wall:
  14. I would think the onus is on us although setting a default is probably wise. The truss above less the overhang is actually a legitimate truss on a gable wall
  15. You could try extracting the file from the zip file C:\ProgramData\Chief Architect Premier X15\Referenced Files and then assigning to the billboard
  16. I have not had any issues, probably for months now, after NVDIA fixed their driver
  17. ...to avoid confusion, there is the send to layout -> Current screen as image. That is not changeable from the layout box as it is just a static image
  18. try: open up the truss and check rebuild
  19. This vertical black line just showed up even though I have not changed the exterior walls in a couple days Any ideas? I see these every once in awhile. and just now while I was looking I noticed the footing line was about the same place so for shts and giggles, I turned off the footing layer in plan view, went back to elevation and it is gone. tried to repeat the behaviour and I cannot. then I was in ortho view and I turned on walls, labels, and then the vertical black lines appeared on the back of the house and now I cannot get them to go away. it looks to be because of the side wall (below seems to match the lines), but why just show up at random? then I start fiddling with the wall intersection tool for the one corner, and then poof both corners vertical lines vanish unbelievable. what am I missing here?
  20. feel free to make a suggestion in the suggestion forum. I would agree it would help in certain situations. For most situations i do, i just approximately draw the walls, and then go around the building and adjust them to actual dimensions I use the auto exterior dimension tool to make the dimensions, and then click on a wall, click on the dimension and then enter the dimension). but if you do not do that and put in interior walls, you will be stuck resizing walls everywhere, if you have to resize the exterior walls later. although your rack problem is intriguing, I cannot visualize the problem, so you may want to post the problem in a series of screenshots
  21. i gave up, deleted the joists and redrew
  22. even if I pull back a deck wailing wall and change the size, it is keeping the joists in the same position. if I lower the room floor in abolsute elevation, they still jsut stay there. I think CA thinks I have "retain deck framing" on, even thought it is off....but odd it is only the joists if I delete the the entire deck room, they are still there:
