  1. From the album: Some Renders

This home was built in 2006 and was for sale by the bank as a "short sale" It was pretty roughed up. My sister was interested in buying it but couldn't see the potential. Luckily her brother had the right tools to show her the light
  2. I have an Asus G75V gaming laptop and Chief sails smoothly on it. It's two or three years old now and gets hot enough to fry an egg on, but I bought a cooling pad in hopes that will give me at least one more year out of it. LOL
  3. It drives me crazy that they are so hush-hush! However, when they finally do release it, it always feels like Christmas to me =] It's worth the wait I guess! LOL
  4. Lol! You hit the nail on the head! We're only human! Everyone has flaws...just like this program. LOL Nothing's always perfect.
  5. Wow, this thread has really gone from the excitement of a sneak peak, to a whole new level. I had to turn off email notifications from it. LOL I understand that some of you are frustrated with the program, however I am very grateful that I have this program and I really appreciate all the work they put into this software. I make a living off this software and it took me many years to learn it. I'm not going to lie, I still don't know a lot. Foundations are a headache for me as well as layouts. Other than that I kinda have it down. If I worked for Chief and I read this post, it'd make me feel like I wasn't doing a good job. I appreciate all you guys do for us, and I greatly appreciate a lot of the users that help everyone out on this forum as well. A little off topic here. I was on Chief's Facebook page and read some comments that a user had left on a status of Chiefs. I believe Allen Brown even commented on that post and tried to set that gentleman strait. Lord knows he needed it. The gentleman made it seem like Chief was the worst program he had ever come across in his entire life. I couldn't believe the sass that guy gave. LOL No one is holding a gun to our head and forcing you to use this software. Good grief fella. Ya'll have a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. Just my two cents.! LOL
  6. Oh snap I posted this in the chat room. I'm excited for this new feature!
  7. "How do you place a ceiling light?" Click on the "outlet" symbol or "electrical symbol" Then click on the light, then click where you want it in the plan... There are a lot of free videos out there that you may benefit from. I'm just running out and don't have time to post any links, but if no one has posted links to these sources, I'll be happy to when I get back in. Have a great night. Also I just use a cad line to connect the switches on different floors. Not sure if Chief fixed that yet....
  8. Wouldn't life be great if you could could have "automatic" arched brick lintels? LOL That would save me a lot of time! LOL
  9. GLS, not sure if you've seen this video. It popped up in a post recently about Ray Tracing. It helped to "sharpen" my render techniques a little bit. It's like an hour long, but what else is there to do on a lazy weekend? Lol http://video.chiefarchitect.com/?autoplay=1909
  10. Read this thread. It's pretty good! https://chieftalk.chiefarchitect.com/index.php?/topic/2295-fantastic-new-solution-found-re-how-do-you-show-partial-open-railing-stairs-and-how-to-show-the-door-to-the-basement-stairs-underneath/
  11. I believe this is the video here. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lotf8hBM93E
  12. D. Scott Hall did a video on this that I used and it was very helpful. Let me search for it. I'll post the link when I find it.
  13. Actually one more quick question. I always use "boxed eaves" on all of my roof designs, but I can't seem to get the eaves to be flat (without the little lip) underneath like we build it in the real world. Is that a quick fix? a setting I'm missing perhaps. See attached photos.
  14. I now see that if I would have cleared my head and thought about it for a few minutes that I would have solved these problems myself. Thank you guys for your time and consideration.
  15. I see what you're saying. That's a good idea. That room is a breakfast nook, and will be vaulted with stained wooden beams. We have a home similar to the spec that we're about to build that has almost this same type of roof (see attached photo)
  16. Alan, yes. Thank you. That area where the sliding glass door is is going to be 2 single casement windows. This is the exterior of our next spec house. we are going to put a single door on the other side and turn the three single casement windows into a slider and put a raised concrete deck off the back of the house. the deck was originally going to be off the left hand side where the slider currently is, however I felt like it would block a lot of light from the windows that are going to be in the daylight basement. Thanks guys for your help!
  17. Val, thank you. That was a simple fix. Any idea about the first problem?
  18. I deal with the first one a lot and was just curious if anyone knew how to eliminate the little artifact pictured here (Notice the area above the middle of the sliding glass door) I can never seem to get it to disappear no matter how many times I mess with the roof planes. I'm stumped. My second issue is that I can't seem to get the "Full Roof Return" to look right over the front door. I want it to look like the one above the garage but when I do it automatically it creates a little wing that sticks out into the middle of nowhere. Any input would be appreciated. Attached it the file. roof trouble.plan
