  1. I draw the existing conditions with the appropriate wall types. In my layer sets I have layers such as Wall2bremoved, Door2bremoved, etc. These are changed to dashed lines with adjusted line line weight and color. For demo take the wall or part thereof and open wall type > copy > add demo to name such as Interior 4 Demo and dash all the lines. Place these on Wall2bremoved layer along with doors, windows, cabinets etc. on their own 2bremoved layers. Mark the walls no locate, no room def. In any 3D view, elevations, sections, etc. turn the 2bremoved layers off.
  2. RTX 2070 Super in Alien laptop connected to (2) 32" monitors - no problems with (3) screens or RTRT
  3. You can take your file of the existing plan of the house you modeled before and copy it. Then save the file copy for your new file so it doesn't interact with the existing model. To move, rotate, etc. select Edit>Edit Area>Edit Area (All Floors) To mirror the plan select Tools> Reverse Plan. Hope that helps
  4. Make your cabinet with a framed door > glass. Open the dbx for the cabinet > material > glass. In materials select metals > patterned > wire mesh. You can edit all the material properties (make a copy) in plan materials once you select it. 21088 Existing Conditions 12.17.2022.pdf 21088 Existing Conditions 12.17.2022 B.pdf
  5. I set the Accuracy default in primary format to 1/8" with Reduce set to greatest common divisor in 1/8", 1/4", & 1/2" scales. I set it to 1/16" in 3/4", 1", & 1 1/2" or above scale. I'm realistic about drawing and building but when I need a fraction.... I'm also religious about calling out "CRITICAL DIMENSION" , "HOLD CLEAR" or both when the design warrants it. (Big supporter of text below the dimension line) I also use EQUAL / EQUAL when I want something centered and not dependent on how it got framed in the real world. I find the settings accuracy important for the program ie: evenly distributing copies of items etc. but rely on experience for how it's actually designed (and that includes fractions.) Bye the way if you have a long string of dimensions w/ a bunch of 1/8 fractions you can open that string and change the accuracy and it will self adjust.
  6. go to your library and type in exit? Don't know about concealed sprinkler but sprinkler heads are there too. Did you bring your libraries forward to X14?
  7. You could open wall type definition and copy the wall there. If you've changed pattern, texture, fill etc on the layer its best to save that material definition under a new name when you create it. For example cream siding > in plan materials > copy edit and rename new...hope that makes sense
  8. Yeah that took a while to figure out. Highlight the schedule (right click) to open all the "Handles" then grab a handle of the cell containing the window and shrink the whole cell. The window will shrink proportionately.
  9. If I understand your question correctly you're creating your own schedule rather than auto generating from Schedules>Electric? You can use a room divider or draw a wall place the electric and then make the wall invisible from the dbx
  10. Definitely a gremlin out there. Green is the new neutralizer......
  11. Open dim defaults. Go to Locate Interior. Check surfaces
  12. What Gene said is very true. Your idea of making multiple copies of the circuit layers and individualizing them will give you much more control. The big plus is you do it once and save in the template for future plans
  13. Careful Tea, seems stating truth to fact can get you a down vote!
  14. Set the ceiling to 59 and move the wall to the intersection - you need to know the pitch and the overall dims for any of this to work. Or I just saw Joey's post - if all you need is the interior of that space set the roof on a 59 plate height - still need the pitch
  15. You could set a ceiling height see where the ceiling line show and move the wall to that location. You could use CAD lines to establish location by height and move the wall there but walls don't have height control of themselves. If it doesn't need to be a wall for your purposes use a soffit or polysolid and size accordingly
  16. Quick sketch -very quick. Draw your exterior walls. Open wall dbx for appropriate walls and change to gable and set pitch. Auto build roofs. Build new floor (do not check raise roof) Go to second floor and draw wall in correct location. Wall will be knee wall and "sloped wall" will be your roof knee wall.pdf
  17. Edit>Preferences>Appearance>Colors. Personally I like a soft yellow like old trace paper. You can control a lot of the working colors there
  18. X3 EULA.pdf Ok If you read the X3, longer, transfer clause it spends more time explaining the restrictions and requirements than the X14 does. They both say transfers subject to approval. Just wondering, has a building department ever changed their interpretation of a restriction in the code? X14 EULA.pdf
  19. Well Mick now you have me confused. I just spoke to them and was told transfers are still permitted per the agreement if approved. They did say they were tightening down the restrictions as they were very loose before.
  20. And so I did.... and they were kind enough to repost. Transfers are still permitted subject Chief's approval as always. Were they more lenient in the past? Probably. Will they be more lenient in the future? Possibly. Right now every prudent person and company is being cautious about the uncertain future. The statement " We don't do that anymore" is incorrect. License transfer is subject to approval on a case by case basis.
  21. Well dang! I didn't know that. I never noticed you could add your own. I build wooden model ships to keep my sanity (jury's still out) and use this all the time to draw up custom parts. I always had to futz with the scale. Thank You!
  22. With no info regarding system, program etc. almost impossible... Look to your video card and see what max lights are set to. Will be regulated by the size of video card or drive depending on what you're using to generate PBR
