  1. Any suggestions on how to create this Custom Doorway.
  2. Joe, if if you looked at my recent videos you will notice I build actual "Deck rooms" into my designs. All structures are ESOP(elevated structures on pilings) and thus, the ground (level 0), Terrain and slab are typically 14' below the "first floor" (level1). So, my house is essentially hovering 14' above ground. Most of the time, if the building site has side easement clearance, I'll place the stairs (from ground to first floor) along side the house and enter the Deck area. This approach works fine. It's only when I attempt to bring the stairs up through the actual "Deck Room Area" that an issue. I'm out of the office for a few hours but would be happy to prep a brief video describing the process for your review. thanks for asking,
  3. Anyone have a demo on bringing a set of stairs up through a a covered deck? I tried this and the "make hole through platform" button did not remove the deck planking and thus did not reframe the deck joist. Any and all suggestions / techniques are welcome. thanks
  4. Joe, I'm anxious to try this out as I am currently placing a lot of macro detail the Layout box label to keep track of the source data. I also watch a few of Gerry's videos on using predefined verbiage for plan Text boxes, as well as the new OIP macro capabilities. Hopefully after Scott Hall's GTM on Friday I will have a better understanding of how to incorporate macros effectively and efficiently into my plans.
  5. Stair issue resolved Eaves (overhange) resovled. Ceiling planes are still an issue i'M PREPARING A VIDEO DESCRIBING THE ABOVE AND A FEW OTHER THINGS FOR BETA.
  6. Perry, What you suggested worked! Check out the video if you have time. There are a couple of other items you might find interesting. 1) Stair landing Railing. Shows balusters and Newel post bit displays a solid panel 2) Eave over stairs is not filling in. 3) Eave and Soffit over Deck is lower than rest of roof. Thanks again,
  7. Perry, I am trying to force the the Deck Joist to run parallel with my Floor Joist. I've done this before by changing the Joist direction in the "Deck" dbx but this time nothing seems to work. I don't want it like the image below. I'd be happy to post a video of what all I am doing if that will help. Thanks,
  8. Scott, I would love to join the discussion. If there is room, please add me to the list. Thanks,
  9. Thanks Perry. I got it, downloaded and installed it but it locks up when attempting to send the info to Chief. Just completed measuring an As-Built. 3 hours.
  10. This is all I can find on CA, and it all relates to the ROOM PLANNER APP. https://www.chiefarchitect.com/search/?q=Bluetooth&default_tab=video
  11. Perry, Thanks for the reply. Where are the settings to auto input the Laser data into CA X8?
  12. Mike, Thanks for your reply. I've reached out to Tommy (HUG Leader) but have not heard back as of yet. Fortunately, I have had a couple of guys (AUS and CAN) respond and we have started Skype sessions . So many folks are looking for compensation for their time. For me, I would rather perfect my CA skills and be compensated for design work and share what I learn in Chief with other aspiring CA users. Sort of like "Pay it Forward". Guess everyone for ways to make a buck these days. Can't say I another bad about that. Cheers,
  13. Has anyone connected their Laser to Chief Architect X8 on a Laptop? My Leica DISTO E7500i works great on my Apple MiniPad but I would prefer to use Premier on my Laptop and don't see where to connect the two, if at all.
  14. Perry, I use Room Planner with a "Leica DISTO E7500i". Works fine but I would prefer to use my Laptop and Full Chief Program.
  15. Mike/Joe, What I did... In Plan under "Annotation Sets" create a New Annoset/Layer Set Called "General Annotations - 1/2" Scale" Edit the 7 Attributes as desired, OK Select "Layer Display Options" and make a copy of the TEXT, RICH and Rename it "TEXT, RICH, GENERAL ANNOTATIONS 1/2"" OK Select Level 1, and in my case, choose the new Annoset. Using Rich Text entered the Macro %Living, area% (Anywhere on the screen) Sent it to Layout and positioned it as desired. (BEAUTIFUL!) In Plan, and from any layer, make sure the "TEXT, RICH, GENERAL ANNOTATIONS 1/2"" LAYER is set to display only on that layer (Modify ALL). What's interesting is I can turn off the display in PLAN and it still reports just fine in Layout. We'll see how it goes from here but a cool first shot. Thanks Guys,
  16. So, kind of like the way I do my Schedules where i place them somewhere on the plan view and send that view to Layout and crop what I want to see. That works. Thanks,
  17. Joe, Any idea why Chief would have it show up in Layout? If it is not applicable to Layout then why is it in the Macro list in Layout at all? I guess I should have checked the Help Files before asking the Forum. Sometimes it is quicker to ask the experts than to get bogged down searching HELP, Videos, or The Manual for answers. Of course ALL are very informative but often get me "Off Task". Thanks again,
  18. "It's a function of the plan not the Layout"....okay....It must be there for a reason I have yet to discover. So, the search continues. Thanks,
  19. Joe, I may take you up on this and your other macro packages once I get my SAM Template completed. It may require some coaching from you if enable all the features you have designed into the package. What I am wondering is..."Why is the LIVING AREA (grayed out) in Layout?"
  20. Guys, There is a %Living.area% macro in Layout but is Grayed out. I would like to use this figure on my cover page plan title. How do I get it there and have it remain dynamic with plan changes? Thanks,
  21. Just wondering if anyone would be interested in doing Skype sessions to share ideas, work through issues and or brainstorm. There are so many ways to do things in Chief that I have to believe there are others who would welcome the sharing of ideas and suggestions in real-time. It's so easy to think you're going down the right path only to find out that there is a better way. I have worked with a few of the gurus (for a fee) and although it has helped, it gets expensive and still there are area where we can improve or streamline processes. If you have the time and are willing please reply. Happy New Year to all,
  22. HELP Chop. I got OBS up and running but the videos will not playback. I've tried them in both MP4 and MOV formats and I get the same error. MrScott OBS Log.txt
  23. Open below should do it. check all wall connections making up the shaft and yes, post the file.
  24. I guess I was not aware of that. Thank for enlightening me. If the Mic issue could be resolved on my WS I might continue to use it simply to help articulate my thoughts to the Forum. Thanks again,
  25. Will do. I will check out OBS and see how it works. Thanks
