  1. Right. Running X9 Lynch, Stephanie 5717 Moser Farm Rd PROPOSED CJW.plan
  2. Anybody had this issue of the wall/floor surfaces showing through in 3D? Checked the materials and 3D settings, but cannot track down the problem. TIA, Charlie
  3. Anyone in Dayton? I have a client that wants this house modeled- http://www.zillow.com/homedetails/302-Monteray-Ave-Oakwood-OH-45419/35077495_zpid/ It would save me five hours of driving. Send me a sample of your work - and it better be as good as mine! 4. Some of those models are huge, so watch out.
  5. Set you exterior walls as multiple courses of brick with main layer set back from an exterior layer - then the windows will recess.
  6. Nice. I run into these a lot and usually just ignore them - this technique makes it pretty quick.
  7. Stair is cutting the wall even though the wall is not under the stair.
  8. Just placed a curved wall next to a curved stair - it was overlapping the stair a bit . I doubt I can recreate it.
  9. A little anomaly - pretty cool, though. Now to get in and get rid of it.
  10. (1) send to layout as live view. (2)default settings/camera/general camera/show shadows - do this first.
  11. There are some good ones in the manufacturers libraries - you may need to download from CA site.
  12. 3DCONNEXION SPACE NAVIGATOR TIME!
  13. It will not do it all. It is best for fast plan layout, massing, quick 3D renders and client visualization. One has to shift gears to then go into a 2D based aspect of the program to generate the working drawings. A lot of these guys have years with this program and I doubt they would stick with it if it did not deliver. Maybe a little more time is required to get the feel for the program. I figure I am at about 26,000 hours on it.
  14. I would turn on only the posts, do a cad detail from view, block it, copy it, paste in place on any floor and put on specific layer.
  15. Sometimes the roofs will want to snap to another element in the plan (don't think it is the case here, though) There is a button on the roof plan specification - "no special snaps". Can be handy.
  16. Good. Auto dormers are the only way I have found to get really clean interior wall/roof junctions. Get it as close as possible w/ an auto dormer and then you can explode it. Do a save as first!
  17. You may want to make your own ridge bd and delete the ridge from your roof planes.
  18. Are you locking baselines or facia ht and then pasting the desired ridge ht to each roof plane? It should snap perfectly.
  19. Pitch of the shed roofs should be raised to hit the main ridge. I would model it as a 2 story and the fly rafters on the gable ends make it appear to be a 1 story w/ shed dormers. I did run across one the other day that looked like yours and it was 2 story framed and the steeper roof was framed separately above resting on strongbacks over the ceiling joists. like this -
  20. I use slabs for the posts and beams or a column symbol. Only way to get full control of the post placement.
