Why We Have So Many Questions On These Forumsdshall replied to Joe_Carrick's topic in General Q & A That is a key point...... if you guys were to use more generic terms, 95% of workarounds will be eliminated. We should be careful of what we wish for.

Why We Have So Many Questions On These Forumsdshall replied to Joe_Carrick's topic in General Q & A These suggestions are great... I guess..... but if you asked 10 power users we would probably have 10 different answers. Why we all do not get together and discuss in which direction to go, and come up with a consensus is a mystery to me. Oh I know, it would take up too much time. So let's do it wrong again and then discuss what we did wrong after we make the changes. How many times have you guys received an email from a client regarding a change, you make the change and they say, "no, this is what I wanted", and you have to change it again. Whereas if we had spent 5 minutes discussing the change verbally, it would of been a one and done.

I can snap to the middle wall. I do not know why. Post a small plan and I will see if I can snap to your middle of wall on my computer.

Why We Have So Many Questions On These Forumsdshall replied to Joe_Carrick's topic in General Q & A Congratulations, I think you have decided to bite the bullet and make it work for you. If you stick with it, you will have no regrets. And Johnny, keep posting, I love to listen to your insight in regards to the areas that CA can improve upon. I think CA is listening more now than in the past and your input is invaluable.

Why We Have So Many Questions On These Forumsdshall replied to Joe_Carrick's topic in General Q & A Just a comment on this GW. I do not remember the last time I cared if the lines were connected. I am sure there are times when I would want them disconnected, and that is easy enough to do. As I think about it, I think the behavior as it is works is best for me. I do not need to select 2 lines, just the one, and I can change the location of intersection of two lines at the same time. Yep, I don't know why I would care if connected....... but if CA can fix this for those users who want lines disconnected, that would be great.

Barry, would you mind sending me your email etc to dscotthall@mac.com thanks

The vid I did probably does not follow CA's protocol. It probably does not follow too may protocols except for mine. Give it a go, I think P. and I use the same system, and I think it works for both of us...... I am not complaining and I do not think P. is complaining.

Amen brother Perry. We can spend countless hours setting up templates for different scenarios or you can spend 32.7 seconds changing the default template to work for the condition at hand. I and I am assuming Perry, quickly switch from MONO SLABS to RAISED FLOORS or CONVENTIONAL ROOF FRAMING to TRUSS FRAMING or ......... one template is all you need.... you can quickly change it for your particular project.

Well, someone could write a book explaining this, or someone could do a video explaining this I have not written a book on it but I did do a very long video explaining the process. You could watch the vid..... I think it is called anno sets for dummies.
-
I do not believe this to be true. You do need a separate LAYER SET, this is what controls the size of text, but you do not need a separate annoset. However, the way I work, I do need a separate annoset for the layer set. I have talked about this ad nauseum. The reason for this is ANNO SETS are king. If layer sets were king this would not be necessary. My 2 cents, probably will not change anything, but not a big deal to me anymore.
-
Incorrect, they are a live setting and can change depending on the layer set you are using assuming the text size is controlled by the layer. I can flip back and forth between two layer sets and the dimension text size will change..... however, I do not believe the size of the arrow will change size.

I went thru this about a week ago and Glenn explained it. It works with metric and imperial plans.

New Video By Chief Architect About Stretch Planesdshall replied to Greg_NY61's topic in General Q & A The nugget for me was when Jim pointed out that the origin is determined by orientation IN PLAN VIEW. Joe, remember we couldn't locate the symbol bounding box in the positive "y" direction, or was it negative direction. Why not rotate symbol 180 in plan view and create new symbol. Now we can alter the alter the bounding box in the direction we want.

Nice job P. I hope this helps Brian out.

Group Select Arch Block Vs Cad Block To Model Timber Trussdshall replied to Evolution's topic in General Q & A Isn't this the dumbest thing...... hey P. you remember 8 years ago sitting in that CA seminar with Mont, and we figured out if the framing was blocked it would not show in 3D. If I remember exactly, it was a POST AND FOOTING under the floor that we would block and transform replicate..... unfortunately if it was blocked we could not see it. Hey CA, fix this please after you fix the stairs, thank you. EDIT: It wasn't 8 years ago, I think it was 9 years ago, November 2005....... jeez, have I been struggling with this program for over 9 years already? No wonder I am fat and bald.
-
Absolutely not. The reason it happened is because he defined the top riser of the stair.......... that is the problem with stairs I think, if you want to define the bottom of stairs...easy peasy, if you want to define top of stairs, not so easy because you can only define the TOP TREAD and not the TOP OF LANDING that the stair connects to.
