Yes, open light dvx and there is a box to check for it not to cast shadows.

Some time in the past 2 weeks I have contracted a digital virus.... or my 'puter has. I am running AVAST SECURITY right now. It may take another 2 hours to finish. Apparently I have 2 infections so far. Once this this gets thru running, I am not sure what I should do. Would somebody mind doing a GOTOMEETING with me and taking a look at my computer and advise me. Hopefully it will take less than 5 minutes and I can record and post to help somebody else out. I think it should be done snooping out the virus by 9:00 am pst. Would anybody be available sometime around then, (I have an online appt. until 9:00 at the latest).

Very interesting, opened in X6 and this is what I see. Something ain't right here folks.
-
Bill, I downloaded your plan (in X7) and look what I see. I do not see the walls for the bay. I know you do. I wonder why I do not.
-
Yes, I think that is what I am saying...... or just put a break in the railing, maybe the stair rail and the landing rail will remain unconnected without having to change the width of rail by a minimal amount which is what you are alluding to.
-
Mick, the railing at the stairs must be different than the one on landing, cannot be continuous, you also must OPEN RAILING DBX<RAIL STYLE and then check FOLLOW STAIRS. It should work. I wish to goodness CA would fix the railing dbx. After 9 years and still have to thumb through all the tabs to find out what I want. Don't you guys just hate the, RAIL STYLE, NEWELS/BALUSTERS, RAILS should all be under one tab....
-
No, no no, you must be correct with the height first, the breaks will not happen if you move the molding later.
-
That would be my choice.
-
Well, that looks pretty weird. Here is a vid on 3d molding polylines. Not a great vid. Nothing new. Don't waste your time unless you do not understand this stuff. http://youtu.be/jG5Waten_PY

Using X7, on a MAC, does not work for me. I suppose that is my point, something is wrong here and even if that "attic space" was a room, the window should not be covered up. Kevin, did you ever hear back from tech support? BTW Glenn, if that wall is defined as non room def, you will lose the ply subfloor in that area which may be required for lateral/shear transfer. Bottom line, something is broken.
-
Okay, but maybe I want that to be a room (the attic space above the garage doors), with very low ceilings, I should be able to do it.
-
This is so key, I too have a "TEMPLATE SPIRAL STAIR PLAN" that I create any new stairs from. A big time saver.
-
Kevin "The Moakster" did a great job with the curved roof, that is what I was thinking but I think he took it a step further, thanks K, if I get a chance I will do a follow up with sound mimicking K's approach but also taking a little bit of a different approach.

Jon Scussel nailed it. Yep, a posted plans gets one an immediate response from the pros as Jon Scussel has just demonstrated. Hey guys, lets all give Jon Scussel a gold star.
-
Looks good to me as is.
-
If I had to guess I bet some of the walls are attic walls and somer aren't.... copy those wall into a blank plan and post, somebody will figure it out.
-
That is interesting, I wonder what the maximum riser height is for a spiral stairs. I think it is higher than your typical stairs.
-
Kevin, it is the room over the garage that is the problem. select any wall above garage and delete, it fixes window problem... something is off.
-
Kevin, something is off, open your busted plan, go to second floor, delete the left gable end wall, the one over the left exterior wall of garage, the window is now fixed. Something ain't right. Also notice what happens to your dormer wall when you delete the wall.
-
Kevin, something is wrong here, I wish you would send it in and find out what is wrong. If you do a full overview and select that wall, the drywall is a 2 story finish. No other walls behave like that, so what is the problem? btw, I was not able to get our solution to consistently work.
-
I have not been able to figure out the solution yet, but I do know if you open the wall dvx, the drywall finish does not stop at the plate height..... there is some funny setting that I have not figured out yet.... copy a front wall and the side wall in question and paste elsewhere in plan and compare...... something funny going on Kevin.

Well, I can't ski here, but in March I will take a 2 hour plane flight and a 30 minute shuttle up to the slopes in Utah and I will be Snow Boarding down the slopes in Solitude with my son. Easy Peasy. Yes, at my advanced age I can snow board with the best of them. I just hope it is not too too warm that I have to take my t-shirt off...... the abs ain't what they use to be, but I am working on them. They look more like a case right now, working on a six pack by March. -
It works for me in post #4

BTW Yusuf, you might be quicker than the Moakster using the mouse and the icons.... very very quick.
