  1. Bill, appreciate this info, however I do not understand how this works. I did take a look at the plan and I did review with Joe Carrick, and we could not figure it out. Is there any way you could explain it to me. I will do a GOTOMEETING at your convenience if you think it would be quicker and more efficient, thanks.
  2. Take a look at this plan and picture. Notice if the ply sheathing between exterior finish and wall studs is THICKER than EXTERIOR FINISH, the sheathing pops through. Note that on CA's default exterior siding wall, the ply/osb is 7/16" and the wood siding is 1/2" thick. The ply is thinner than exterior finish. BBB PLY THICKNESS 1.plan.zip
  3. I have a room, if I change the angle of intersecting walls, there is not line..... I agree there should not be a line at the very shallow angles, but that's life, not much we can do about it, your model should look other that the small peccadillo in plan.
  4. You have a good point. Do you have a defined interior room?
  5. They look like are joined to me. I am on X7, I did nothing but open your plan. Try reopening your plan and see if it is fixed.
  6. This might help. http://youtu.be/StD9eUlp8Iw
  7. Still playing, the middle pic done in tech illus.., I added some plants, windows shaded and there are shadows. The shadows are not auto, there is actually an image on top of the vector view sent to layout. I thought this was relatively good looking. Top view is vector only, middle view is vector with tech ills, bottom view is duotone and vector.
  8. So I showed my client the attached pic, and he chose the one without the shadows as what he would rather see. Why? Because he is anticipating that his clients will wonder if the stucco is two different colors (because of the shadows). We try to make it look better, and sometimes we overthink things. I like the shadow/rendered pic, but the client does not.... so who wins? The client of course.
  9. Graham, I appreciate you understanding what I was talking about. Thank you.
  10. My question is why not use a window in lieu of the symbol. What is the advantage? If the vent is called louvered, you can have separate schedules for foundation vents and windows.
  11. I appreciate the vent symbols Joe. So I downloaded and then put them in a plan.... is this how they should look?
  12. You are not stating the obvious. How did you get the shaded windows and how did you create the shadows? There have been many posts detailing how to get the shaded windows and the shadows, however I think most of us agree it is a bit cumbersome and not auto. You did not explain how you achieved your results, did you do it any differently from the other posters?
  13. You must understand that Glenn is from Oz, they do things a bit differently down there..... it is actually a preference setting... see pic.... no bug, just the way Glenn has it set up.
  14. Here is a picture of a section with cabinet doors and doors showing opening indicators, note the triangular fill, not good.
  15. Glenn, I do not believe you sent that to layout, that is simply a back clip cross section, see my layout and plan in previous post.
  16. Glenn, study this, the glass needs a PATTERN, a COLOR does not work, In this particular plan i did not have a problem with the fill on the door if the opening indicators were turned on..... I do not understand why in the picture I previously posted I had issues with a fill on the door and on this plan I did not. BBB GLENN SHADING FOLDEER.zip
  17. Glenn, I am not sure if you remember, but we did this exercise many years ago. There was always the issue with a fill showing on the door (as in my picture above) if the opening indicators are on. I never used this because it slowed my computer down, however now I do not see a significant degredation of speed.
  18. I do not think so, the glass material needs a pattern, not a change in color.... please correct me if I am wrong.
  19. I do not think sun shadows are easy.... yet.... but the shaded glass is easy if you add a pattern to the glass material. We did this exercise many years ago..... note the door on the left.... see the fill? Why is it there? I don't know, I think it is a bug.
  20. You are absolutely correct..... however, if you have a fill in the room, this will not work. I generally work with a fill in my rooms (solid white fill), maybe I may have to rethink my use of rooms fills. Why do I use room fill? It goes back to my usage of ref sets...... again, I must pick my poison...... .... however if my room fill has 50% transparency, it might work.... however this might defeat the purpose of using a room fill........ oh my head is swimming.......
  21. Great question. I never noticed this. This is not good, this should be fixed. You might want to send it in to tech and make this a feature request. I think the fill for the floor material region should be on the same level as the fill for a room. If you have a fill in a bathroom, the toilet covers the fill, the fill does not cover the toilet, this is good, however for a floor material region, the fill covers the toilet, not good.
  22. Have you tried this? I tried it and it did not work.
