  1. Eureka, we have lift off!!!! What does this mean? No skin cancer, no sweltering in my home, instead I will sit in my nice cool office, watching the golf tournament and earning money, life can't get much better.
  2. The upside to this is it is their problem and not mine. I would leave the office, but it is 99 degrees out here (for you Aussies dealing with Celius, that is very very hot). It's so hot there is no point turning on our undersized AC. I could go home and suffer or stay in my air conditioned office... or go to the pool and get skin cancer. Decisions, decisions........
  3. Thanks Mick. Hey CA, this is not good guys!
  4. Did you quit and the restart or have you always been on. I think they said if I waited long enough, something will time out and I can then get on. This is not good.
  5. This occurred a couple of weeks ago. It is happening again . I cannot start Chief. I have rebooted etc., anyone else having this problem?
  6. And the winner is...... Glenn of course.
  7. Frustrating behavior, I wish I did not have to click to activate...... but life could be worse.
  8. I keep all interior elevation cameras, I never delete them, I use them for the next project. I put these cameras on their own layer. I open camera dbx and specify which floors I want these cameras to show on. Each camera is displayed on only one floor.
  9. If you want to keep the roof planes on different levels, learn to use ref sets.
  10. If you can tell me the advantage of the TEMPLATE METHOD over THE SAM METHOD, and the advantage of THE SAM METHOD over THE TEMPLATE METHOD, I will give you some advice. Each method has a distinct advantage over the other method.
  11. Totally agree, the only advantage is you can trace the walls. If you can't get a dxf to trace, import a pdf of the plans and trace that. You do not need the dxf file, an imported pdf of the plans is as good as it gets.
  12. Or draw a line at the angle you want camera, now when you use camera, start at one end of line and end at other end
  13. I think they are the same, you might ask Joe, he might feel differently.
  14. Instead of using CA's 12-5/8" thick default floor assembly, I have changed it to my 12" default floor assembly. I am not sure what else you guys want.
  15. Great question Joe and Perry. I am sure you tested it so you know the answer, it works as expected and as I would want it to work.
  16. Yes, that is correct, that was the mistake Larry was making, the floors were not set to default. Sorry it took so long to answer, I was a bit slow understanding your question, but now your question makes perfect sense to me.
  17. Perry, that is the point of the thread. Yes I can do it, I have done it, Tommy will agree it can be done. I did a video showing I can do it. So I have shown you can change the default floor assembly for the entire plan in one fell swoop (apparently very few users understand this), I have shown how you can change all floor assemblies for a particular floor level (everybody knows this), and I have shown how you can change the floor assembly for a particular room on a particular floor (everybody knows this). As I said, I did this video many years ago, the reason I brought up the topic again was because I thought understanding this might help us understand how to control jumping floor and ceiling elevations. I am not sure if understanding this helps anybody understand jumping floor and ceiling elevations.
  18. Great, not a deal breaker, but a nice feature to understand.
  19. incorrect, if you watched the vid you would understand.
  20. You did not check defaults well enough. You must check defaults for THE ROOM and THE FLOOR. As you saw in the vid, you can control the defaults for THE ENTIRE PLAN, THE ENTIRE FLOOR , or THE ENTIRE ROOM. You did not have the defaults for the room and the floor set to THE DEFAULT. I was able to make it work.
  21. Yes, this changes the floor defaults for the ACTIVE FLOOR, as you said. Again the point was to change all floor defaults at one time.
  22. Joe, it sounds like we use the same method. I do not delete cameras and cross sections. In fact my cross sections are already in plan, about 16 cross sections and I do not always use all of them. The only thing that is not in layout for me are the interior elevations. The cameras for interior elevations are there in plan, but I do need to send the cabinet elevations to layout. It is too much trouble otherwise.
  23. Very difficult to answer. Many different reasons for this behavior. If you want an answer, I would be willing to look at it if you post the plan with layout. To do this, with layout selected go to FILE<BACK UP PLAN ENTIRE PLAN and save this to a new folder and post or provide a drop box link to access large files.
