Only issue I see, and a common one for all PDF's in Chief, is line weights pretty much all need to be 1, or they are crazy looking in PDF version (way too "fat"). What works fine within Chief, or even DWG fails in PDF with any higher line weights. Never understood why that was, but with mechanical drawings I do all the time, on commercial projects, has always been that way.
That should not be happening. Are you currently using X7 ? You might want to post a plan file Backed Up from Layout... "Backup Plan Files and All Referenced Files" ( Layout and settings )
Something is definitely messed up in your setup with the plan and layout sync.

Chopsaw's method. Easy enough to export out of Chief as DWG, but from TrueView I can't "export". Is there even an export option in TrueView, or is it just Plot?
Have a look at the "Batch Plot" options > Publish Options > Include Layer Information.

As far as I know that is not possible. Please post your plan file or at least a screen shot of the situation.

There are a series of tools on your active toolbar that will work for that sort of operation depending on the exact situation. For that particular problem you posted I would likely use the "Extend" tool. The "Trim" or "Mitre" and "Lap" tools can also be quite handy as well.

When I added the same image to the bump map and then checked "inverted" it reduced the visibility of the OSB slightly, not 100% sure if that's what you're asking though.
Just wanted to clarify if both layers were using the exact same settings... If you made a copy of the existing layer with the inverted bump map or got a stock material file from the library. I am not much of a materials guy but like to see the software working correctly and be user friendly.

Okay, I got a makeshift work-around to get it to visibly work but not sure if it will mess with anything.
In the roof surface I added a 2nd exact replica of the black standing seam
Great work ! Unfortunately it will really mess up your material list but you might be able to work with that as long as you are aware.
It would be good to get to the bottom of the issue though. Do you have one inverted and one regular bump map ?
Perhaps @CADustin could comment if this is a material issue or a rendering problem that should be sent to tech support.

Bring it into your plan file and delete all the surfaces of the unwanted piece and then recreate the symbol.

No but you can draw one manually and convert it to a symbol and then assign that to be used in an automatic railing if you like.
-
Yes absolutely. You can draw on one and have 3D on the other or a window for ALDO, LB, PB, etc with a 3D or elevation view or even reference material or another program.. But be careful you don't get carried away or you will want 3 screen like me. I sometimes have 4 live views running simultaneously.

Would two Rich Text Boxes work for what you are doing ?

Yes check the Rich Text Paragraph Options

Thanks - I'm happy to do so - not sure how to do that - the plan is 250mb. Is there a way to strip it down to the essentials or a place that this site uses for those files?
That might be difficult to strip down to 14 MB without making a mess. Just upload to your cloud account and post the link here so we can download it.

I guess I don't understand why you wouldn't also be seeing the "top" of the terrain at the point closest to you, if it is sloping away, but the mind of Chief is beyond me
I will make the suggestion. Thanks.
That would certainly solve the problem. It should at least generate a clip or section line and I think it would make a lot more sense to most people.

Chopsaw, I'm not sure I understand exactly what you mean - if I take a section perpendicular to the contours, why would I be looking at the underside of the terrain?
If you cut a section of a natural terrain condition it is quite likely that you will have some "ground" that slopes away from the camera and some that slopes toward the camera. If it is sloping toward the camera you should see a continuous section line. If it is sloping away from the camera it will appear transparent since you are looking at the underside of the surface. Try it on a simple slope with a camera facing each way.
-
-
Yes it works well shooting an elevation towards and up slope but unfortunately the terrain is transparent from the underside so it disappears from the view of the camera when looking at the underside. Perhaps a suggestion that the transparency could be optional for a specific camera would help us all out ?
-
If the railing is reversible, symmetrical on both sides you can simply place a wall break at 2' and then reverse one of the two sections and it should hold that way with a Newel Post at 2'. Otherwise you would need to place as short room divider perpendicular to the railing.

Is it possible to set the header framing l defaults to show the nominal size, but NOT the length, on X13?
Sure how do you want the display to look ?
-
Are you using multiple monitors ? Maybe try "Reset Side Windows" in Preferences.

My best guess is the delete key got mapped as quit...
Could you expand on that a bit more Ryan. I could not find anything of the sort in Chief. The only thing that comes close is a Windows command " ALT + F4 "
It may well have been a hot key issue because the OP has since posted about it elsewhere but even that is not making sense.

Can you get away with using a "Standard View" elevation camera or do you want a simulated vector marble pattern ?

I will assume that the image in the camera view is tiny. This is usually a result of a very wide or tall model or some small object that has been placed or lost out to the side a long long way. You can often find the object by using the "fill window" tool and then slowly turning off layers until the view is "normal" and then isolate the layer and use "fill window" again. If you have a lot of items on the isolated layer you may need to move the known items to a temporary layer.
It is a bit of a process sometimes so if you have difficulty you can always post the plan file and one of the experts can help.

If you like you can PM that to me or if it is not private info you can post it here so others with the same issues may learn something as well.
