Thanks a lot for the responses. I like the idea of inserting PDF files. My concern is scaling. I can print them to scale from AutoCAD native files but if I insert PDF files, how can I ensure that they print to correct scale? is that a trial and error process? Insert print, scale, then adjust? Is there a method that I'm not familiar with?

It should just work and a good way to confirm is see if it snaps perfectly to your drawing sheet particularly if you are printing on the same size paper as the original PDF providing it is properly scaled.   Where you run into trouble is with scanned material that has odd sized paper dimensions.  It does not hurt to check and confirm but if you are doing all the work and using a consistent method it should always turn out the same.  Just be careful with your file sizes but if they are vector files it should not be a big problem.

  2. Set your Subfloor Height above Sea Level here:

That should allow you to build your terrain based on real elevations.  If you leave it at 0 then all your site elevations are based on values below the subfloor with no real sea level reference.

Then when you need to do your story pole you can enter the same value there to bring the subfloor back to story pole 0 as Glenn referenced above.

Do you have Line Weights or Print Preview turned on in your section view ?

    negative

Yes so that seems to be the issue.   You can't print without line weights being displayed so you need to check how they will print by turning on Print Preview or Line Weights and then make your adjustments.

    1. Something happened and for some reason I can't convert polyline to terrain. Terrain feature is grayed out.

Yes I think I alluded to that in the previous thread.  As soon as you disconnect a line to get the correct label to display then you no longer have a closed polyline to calculate area from or convert to a terrain perimeter.  However I rarely use the plot lines for terrain perimeter and make that a good bit larger than the actual plot.

    2. Been having A time to set terrain elevation to 60.58m as a base, so i can set proper grade as per " Specific walkout lot detail) in the plan reference. I've watched all the videos I could find on this and tried to get it to work with no success. I am trying to set terrain elevations and building TOJ elevation to "Specific walkout lot detail". If I have a baseline set properly then i can input metric elevations for heights. I still want to have main floor TOJ as 0 for building story pole elevations.

Not sure you can have both in the same plan file.

"3. How can I have elevation points show on plot plan as points on elevation line?"

Points and lines are quite different things. You can label lines or points but they do not normally fall in the same locations as points are very specific locations and precise elevations and lines are usually computer generated from imputed points and just a general representation of elevation.  More information needed.

Previously I just masked them and moved on (as suggested before), but it was always on my mind.

Yes you really should not need to do that.   Actually surprised to see Azimuth Bearings used in Canada.  That is a first.

Left side needs some help as well.  Let us know how you do and you likely should display all three decimal places with the metric dimensions.

There is no option to change it to feet in drawing sheet setup either.

Ok something did change on you then.  The dropdown list only displays your default units so you will need to go back to Preferences > Unit Conversions and make "ft" or " ' " a default unit.   Then it should all work as normal.

You could also draw a vertical line and then use the make parallel tool.  Be sure to set it to move the whole polyline and not just an edge.

Only if you actually have a polyline. :(

ok, maybe  I am doing a bad job of asking the question.  Let's say, for example, ! have drawn the lot below.  And I want the left side of the lot to be 90 degrees or perfectly straight up and down on my page.

In that situation you would check the angle of the left line and determine exactly how much it needs to be rotated to be vertical. Then select the whole thing which usually includes the north arrow and use Transform and Replicate to rotate everything at once.

If I understand your question correctly, I am trying to get square on the screen page.  ive attached a pic below.  the shaded area is the lot.  I am trying to get it "square".

Square to the house or square to itself ?  Regardless the north arrow needs to be parallel to one of the sides to get 0 and 90.

I drew it based off its bearings.

So then you need to rotate it with the north arrow maybe.

I also keep setting my default line weights, arrow sizes and arrow types but it doesn't retain my selection.

You need to be sure you are in defaults to set defaults and that only works for the existing plan unless you save it in your template file.

    Good afternoon,

is this normal that I have 4 exact sized doors that I can't get a proper measurement on? The dimensional tools have been a real struggle for me.

For precise individual measurements you may need to change the rounding for some situations or "Grid Rounding" can sometimes cause inconsistent results and the "Distance Rounding" option may be more appropriate but not recommended for general use.
