In (X11) you can use a 0.0° Pitch and use the Baseline Angle to set the sideways pitch of the roof plane. This will give you vertical rafters at 90° to the slope. If you want the rafters square to the roof surface you will need to manually frame with blocking.

Check your wall definition or post a screen shot of it.

Have a look in Preferences> CAD> Line Properties> Endcap Printed Length: Mine is set at 1/32" if that helps but you are likely using a Metric template. Maybe .8 mm or round it off to 1 mm

How should I go about modeling this?
Forget it Rich. Just ask the owner for the original plans. Other wise you would need a really expensive point cloud scanner.
-
I think I would just use a custom road marking for that purpose.

What would be nice is if surveyors were a little more OCD...
Between the survey not quite closing and Chief's defaults it gets a little tricky to make it work the way the survey is drawn but that is the point if someone has an issue with your interpretation they will request the original survey so it had better match.
If this is what you are after shoot me a PM and I will try to explain.

Thanks Chop...was hoping to have light data options to show in nighttime view.
Will play around...I saw Glenn used a Polyline Distribution Path.
Yes either way you are essentially building your own light fixture in chief even if you start with a generic symbol someone else has created.

You will need to place a break in those roof planes and draw it up towards joining the other then it will be able to be auto joined.

You can export and import a custom or default list between plan files but I don't think you will be able to achieve any sort of a direct live link with excel unfortunately. You can export your material list to excel and add the prices and do your calculations but getting it back into the program is the issue without breaking the link.
You could do a little more research into the file format (.calumber ) but it is most likely as it appears "Chief Architect Lumber " and proprietary formatting.

Check the Manual/ help file under " Structural Member Reporting "
You can manually enter pricing for the Buy List or Linear Length reports in the Structural Member Reporting Defaults.

No sorry I don't believe that is an automatic setting yet. However if you need to show it in 3D then draw a tapered rafter in cross section with a p-solid and multi copy as many as you need.

Yes. Hyperlink in Chief! How?
Adobe reader will recognize a properly formatted text link in a PDF. It would be nice if chief would pass it on from the Standard Text option that we already have but so far nothing but the feature Adobe offers everyone.

If you have Acrobat you can place an invisible hotlink so the QR code can just be clicked to open the Viewer.
If you use the full URL in chief it can be clicked rather than pasted but they are getting a bit long and bulky to make that look right and safe to click.

The big problem is this, when I click the associate plan icon and open the dbx, it shows the correct file but if I double click the layout box it goes to the wrong file "temp".
Looks like maybe you have found an inconsistent behaviour then. If it does the same in X14 then if would be good to get it sent in.

Not sure about X14 yet but I think that works the way it was intended. Normally I think chief anticipates the Save As copy to not be the backup or Archive and it would always be the active file that you intend to progress with. It does present a bit of a naming problem if you have a master file name that you want to stick with rather than having a progressive naming system though.
I guess you are not able to post the file if you are remodeling DJT's plane for him.

I had one of these given to me for a floor plan and it didn't match the survey, but not sure if it was user error or not.
I think I would be biased towards the surveyor being more likely to be correct however they occasionally make mistakes as well. If you really want to know if it works go and measure it yourself and then you will know if it meets your standards and can be relied on.
Then you can let us know how it works.
It looks like they are claiming to have a higher degree of accuracy than a Matterport camera system.

So no ventilation even though it looks to be an insulated building ?
Otherwise you can get vertical blocking by using a rafter and drag your exterior wall up to the sheathing or with a bit of futzing about you can get an attic wall to fill that space and keep your proper top plate height. Just depends if you are rendering or doing construction documents.

Select the terrain and then the "Make Terrain Hole(s) Around Building(s)" and then you can manually edit it.

Maybe just so there is something to put some dimensions on so that the hole does not get cut in the wrong place next time. See photo above.
