  1. It is not quite that simple but can be done with macro's.  Perhaps post exactly what you would like the label to look like for a specific cabinet and someone can help out.  Also it will depend on what version of the software you are using so please let us know that.  For future postings you can place that information in your forum signature so it is always visible.

Ok so this was done in X14 and perhaps is what you are after ?

Curious, can a person without a Chief license have an account?

Yes that is the problem but it seems Chief is wanting to maintain it that way as a sales tool.

Like I mentioned before, the spam isn't hurting anything, just a big nuisance.

It certainly takes storage space or monitoring.  Either way it is the money from my license and yours that pays for it all.  If a spammer gets 50 posts for every one of yours eventually someone looses out.  And it is annoying.

Can a Chief moderator block or delete the account?

Yes absolutely, and they do but would you rather them be spending all their time monitoring the forum or improving our software ?  I think it is time for some new rules.

  4. I am pretty sure that if there was a probationary period for unlicensed members of one new topic per 24 hour period that it would take care of 95% of the spam issues.  Or just give a special limited "Guest" status for the first week for unlicensed users before they become a "Member".  Plenty of other forums don't let you post at all without a waiting period.

  5. Rob,  I was going to give you a flat out No.  However if you could work out all the cable geometry with moldings then the sections of material between the cables is essentially almost flat.  You could then fill in each section with a face snapping to the intersection points of the moldings.

If there is any doubt there is a guy about half way between here and there that I am sure would help out if it is possible.   @yusuf-333

On the other hand a small residential type of shade sale that is not flat and only suspended by it's perimeter would be much more difficult.

Is there a way to get both of the thresholds to appear the same and be aluminum finish separate from door colors and the in between jamb to be white?

If it is something that is really important to render correctly you could convert to a symbol and work with the individual surfaces to apply your own materials.  Just a lot of tedious work but completely possible.

Ok so a break at the top. Cool. Guess the sides will be the only thing faked in.

Yes and they will be a bit easier to mask in for the details.  Still waiting for a solution from chief though after many many requests.

Here it is with p solids. What I don't like is the fact it won't be shown as stud walls in plan view no matter what method is used and those separation lines are bugging me on the elevation view.

    See solution above.

Ahhhh I was hoping to avoid that but ok, sounds like a plan to me.

You can shape the front wall.  Just the side walls that need filling in with some other method.

Place the break along the top of the wall.

One other question, if I may. When I backed up this file to post it with "all reference files" the .zip file for this simple plan was almost 12 megs. When I backup the file with no reference files it was only 972 kb. Can anyone explain to me in simple terms where the heck all these "reference files are coming from? I have a fairly decent system, but X14 is so S-L-O-W at times it drives me to way too much coffee as the day progresses. Could this be part of my "slowness" problem? As always any and all help is much appreciated

Have a look at the file.  There is likely a bunch of materials and saved pictures and PDF's.  If those are in use in the plan file then yes that will effect performance.  Not that you can do without though as some will be default.

Right now it groups the entire floor area. Is there anyway to do this? Some way I can get Chief to see the individual units as separate buildings? Or am I whistlin dixie?

Both of the previous replies are correct.  However if this is something you intend to do more than once there are other ways to achieve what you want, particularly if all the units are the same size which would make it fairly simple to sort out.  Let me know if I can help.

I want to shift one or both, but there seems no way to select and get a handle.

One trick I used before diving deep into ruby macro's was to make a copy of the applicable line and change the line style to blank and move it to where ever it needed to be to provide a usable label for the original line.  Not ideal but it works.

all auto macros that are available

I was not aware there were any "auto macro's" provided by chief that were useful for quadrant bearing or formatted lengths ?  What did I miss ?
