  1. Just checked out the Roman ones, works fine. Are you selecting this under the "Blinds" or "Curtain" dialog? Makes a difference. Graham
  2. Have X8, use the mini blinds all the time without any issues. Will check out the Roman ones. Graham
  3. Here is a chart from that lists all of the 6th generation CPUs. Just make sure that you have the right model for the type of device you are considering to purchase. There are several variants of each I series depending upon the type of device, tablet, laptop, desktop. Graham 6th_Gen_Intel_Core-Intel_Xeon_Factsheet.pdf
  4. It is known that there are times when upgrading to Windows 10 that your user account can become corrupted. The only solution is to create a new user admin account, switch things over to it and delete the former one. Graham
  5. I usually use the cabinet molding option for light valances. The same thing happens. Graham
  6. As Joe suggest, use a "Trim", "Molding Line". Works the really well. Graham
  7. From a speed perspective the I7 may provide a bit longer user satisfaction; as it is often the case that when you get a faster processor you just naturally gravitate to doing more complex things. I found this to be the case with Raytracing, prior to my recent upgrade I minimized my Raytracing as things were just not fast enough for complex lighting scenes. Now that my system is much faster (lower Raytrace times) I'm exploring and enjoying the benefits of having much greater lighting complexity in my scenes. Graham
  8. Both the I5 and the I7 in the Surface Pro 4 are the same 6th generation chip. Just wondering why the I7 would be any more compatible. Graham
  9. About the only time you would notice a difference would be in Raytracing and some gaming. Even here it would probably not be more than a 10-15% improvement. Graham
  10. Final view just does some line smoothing and adds a shadowing effect if selected. It is mainly used to get rid of those jaggy lines. Textures, colours & details do not really change. Need to Raytrace for that. Graham
  11. Thanks Joe, I was waiting with a bit of trepidation as to your response. I 'm more relaxed now but will still keep my guard up! Graham
  12. Sounds like "Deja vu", my posting #4. Just kidding with you Joe. I know you would not have let me getaway with it. Would be really interested in your thoughts on my recent posting under Suggestions for a "User Object Specification DBX". Graham
  13. Try "Edit" "Preferences" "Render" "Troubleshoot" "Enhanced Lighting", turn it on. Graham
  14. Robert - I totally agree with your assessment of the create 3D molding option. Only tried this once and it was really difficult to do and obtain a predictable result, especially for the first time. If I had to do it again that way I would likely create several individual moldings and stack them. In Bills example one simple molding would take care of the bottom and top brick coarse and then one for what looks like a saw tooth for the middle coarse. Graham
  15. I believe you will need to create this detail as a 3D molding. Check in the library for similar profiles like a dental molding, you can create these in Chief. Graham
  16. Lew - My mistake on the forum, was thinking about the Home Designer package. Thanks for pointing that out. Graham
  17. Would go with Premier. I also do interior cabinetry but it is suprising how many times I need the Premier feature set to get the interiors correct and at times the exterior when say for example there is a deck or patio off of the kitchen. For the extra money it's well worth the investment. Also, if you need user support the forum for Premier is invaluable. Graham
  18. Just a note. When you set to select the wall first in preferences then the tabbing room/wall function is disabled. To get the room you will need to click on the floor region. Not sure but if you are in an elevation view then there appears to be no way to get the room DBX.
  19. I belive you need to select the top of the wall section not the face. Don't need this much but if you select the face try pressing the Tab key to see if it selects the next level. I use the the material painter all the time. I believe most of the cautionary comments is that you really have to make sure you have the right painter mode selected (bottom left screen) and be very careful to make sure the target is correct (target displays in lower left bottom of screen). It's very easy to actually target something hidden from view or if the mode is not set correctly you will get unexpected results, there are times when this is not obvious in regular camera view modes and may go completely unnoticed. Graham
  20. There are some laptops that under normal conditions only use the discrete card when absolutely necessary, it's a method to extend battery life. You may wish to check into this, might be a setting in the power plan to force max performance. Has Chief been added to the software list in the discrete graphics controller management software. Just some thoughts. Graham
  21. No one but me is missing something. Feeling really "Stupid" right now. Thanks Mark & Mike. Graham
  22. It would be great if within a text box you could mix different font styles, size and attributes. Currently a text box can only be a single format. If I whish to have a Bolded heading I have to create another text box for the heading and float it above. Text boxes should be like a mini Notepad editor. Graham
  23. Val - Glad this was of help to you. Yes while Raytracing you can just save a JPG at any time, no need to stop the Raytrace. You can of course set the number of passes to maximum 10 for these in the Raytrace DBX, when complete then save image. I do this a lot, if I have 5 different views you just line them all up and they will run automatically one after the other. Graham
  24. Just an added note. Your Raytraces do not need to run a ridiculous amount of time to generate an image far superior to a screen shot or exported camera view. The attached Raytrace took only 18 seconds for 10 passes. Probably no more time than it would take to set-up a screen shot. The pic is 1200 x 600 pixels.
