Is it a room divider that you placed manually or is it one placed by CA when say you have an independant room within a room, the latter can't be removed.

It seems strange as each item within an Architectural block retains all of it's attributes and you can access them within the block by tabbing the item, no need to unblock. Maybe for PBR'ing they would need to unblock it to get the data and then re-block it.
-
I have encountered this situation before. Architectural Blocked items seem to screw up PBR lighting for some unknown reason. When you unblock them things work as they should.

They e-mailed the wrong person. I don't think "couldn't be done" is even in your vocabulary.

From the pic you posted it looks as if you have a number of light/lighting related issues. I see signs of light bleed up around the ceiling crown and also near the floor by the leg of the sofa. Make sure to have a roof on your structure and a foundation with a floor to help prevent this. Too high a sun setting can also contribute to light bleed as can environmental lighting. These problems can also occur when you have too many polished or highly reflective surfaces and your lights are either way too intense or not properly balanced. Posting the plan would likely lead to a much quicker solution to your dilemma.

As Mark said. Just applied a polyline solid to the mirror and set the emissive. This one uses actual lights around the perimeter positioned behind the frosted glass edge. If you have X11 you could use the new rope light to accomplish this. (Edit: Rope light probably won't work as you can't draw it on the vertical).

This is how I was trying to explain how One Drive works. Given that you are very familiar and pleased with Drop Box I would stay with it. As far as third party programs go I think Drop Box is currently the best of them all.

Larry - You have Windows 10 and One Drive is very different from Windows 7. In Windows 10 One Drive is fully integrated into the operating system. There's nothing to do but assign the folders you wish One Drive to see/manage. They will automatically sync to the One Drive cloud server and then to any other device you have that's connected through your Microsoft Account to your One Drive cloud server. You have complete control over where the files reside, locally or in the cloud. This can be set up differently for each connected device. Say your main system has 512GB but your laptop only has 256GB. On your laptop you can tell One Drive which ones to store locally, you still see all of the available files but it only auto transfers the ones you have chosen. If you need to work on one that is not auto stored locally it will download it so you can work on it. One Drive is completely seamless, it just shows up as a folder in Explorer and you just treat/use it like any other folder.

No, you have no control over the default light source. The moment you place a light fixture in your plan CA eliminates the default light source, even if you added light fixtures are all turned off. Have you tried using the 3D view default settings to adjust the interior ambient? You can also add your own 3D light as a substitute for the lost CA one, at least with this you can adjust it to your liking. One thing you can do is open the light fixtures Symbol DBX, under options uncheck "Light", now CA will not see it as a light fixture. If you do this for all of your light fixtures then CA will put the general default light source back in the plan.

"custom" opening indicators for cabinets?
TheKitchenAbode replied to sweetmelissa's topic in General Q & A
Just make a custom symbol of the 3 drawer fronts and save the symbol as a door front. That way you will automatically get the opening indicators. -
Yes you can queue up as many scenes as you like. When you send a scene to Ray Trace it generates the coding based upon the lights and materials in the scene at the time you send it. You can then change anything you want and then send it to Ray Trace, it writes the code for this one which is separate from the code written for the first one.

Yes there are ways to overcome this. The point is that this should not happen to begin with. That new CA auto generated attic wall should match the original auto generated one.
-
Here is a plan that demonstrates this in action. Open up the PBR Camera. The attic gable wall shows two color depths. Click on the lighter one and drag it back to the left or right. You will notice that the other CA generated one will be darker. If you drag the main lighter color one all the way to the right exterior wall the CA generated one will disappear. Grab the main one again and drag to the left and the darker one will come back. if you change the camera type to Standard View it does not show, just when PBR'ing. Everything in here was auto-built and the auto functions are still active. Abode_Dark Attic Wall.plan

Yes, it certainly looks to be related to some type of confusion. Just a tricky one because it does not seem to happen consistently. So far it seems to have narrowed down to the connections between the attic walls, roof and the roofs supporting exterior walls. Appears that if these are not "100%" correct then CA either can't determine correctly if the wall is an attic wall or not from a lighting perspective or, these incomplete connections allow exterior light to enter the attic and changes how CA lights the surfaces. I did try ballooning the walls but that did not solve the issue.
-
No problem. I have been able to replicate it. Just trying to understand exactly what's going on. Seems to only occur when you have a defined room within/under the vaulted ceiling and the generated attic walls. It seems that CA is having an issue determining if the attic walls belong to the room or not from a lighting perspective. If it gets this wrong then those surfaces will be lit using some other light that's different from the light within the room.

Message"product key not found in online database"

Your license is for the 2012 version. You are trying to access the 2017 version and you will need to pay for it or upgrade if that's an option. -
You really should post the plan and you will likely have the answer to this in 5 or 10 minutes.

How do you handle split celing heights in an entry way?
TheKitchenAbode replied to Max3732's topic in General Q & A
Rooms are the way to do it but there are two approaches to this. 1.) that higher area is a high room and so you make it high on your first level. or 2.) that higher area is actually a lower room on the first level with another identical room above on the second level that has no floor(open below). I think you would find that latter(2) is likely the better approach. -

What problems did it create? Please try to be more specific. -
I assume you are manually manipulating these roof planes. If you look under the General tab you will see that the baseline, which controls the roofs height(vertical position) is only an inch or more higher than the top plate(displayed under measurements) and the birds mouth depth is almost the entire vertical depth of the roof structure. If the displayed top plate height is what you desire then you will need to manually calculate this to get the correct baseline height, Top Plate Height + Vertical Roof Structure Height - Desired Birds Mouth Depth. Once calculated, lock the pitch and enter the new baseline height.
