The Stair macros can be used in a Custom Note Schedule. The Note just needs to have a Text Line connecting it to the Stair and the macro included in the text for the note.

Seeking advice for large Sliding Glass Door
Joe_Carrick replied to ACADuser's topic in Industry & Design Resources
I was referring to the header needing to resist deflection caused by wind against the sliding door. Essentially it needs to be designed as a beam working in both directions even though the trusses will support almost all of the vertical load. -
Seeking advice for large Sliding Glass Door
Joe_Carrick replied to ACADuser's topic in Industry & Design Resources
Typically the doors are supported on the bottom track and the top track is just to contain them horizontally. You will obviously need a fairly good sized header beam and it will need to be sized for deflection so the clearances above the track are maintained. The header will also need to be restrained laterally to withstand the wind loads. -
Was expecting more from X13 sneak peak from 2D Elevations Webinar
Joe_Carrick replied to Michael_Gia's topic in General Q & A
I liked the automatic room clipping and vaulted ceilings feature for interior elevations. Otherwise, I agree that the biggest issue is line weights to "POP" the vector view. Edge lines should be able to be automatically set to a higher value than Pattern lines and it should be in the plan views rather than in layout. btw, I use a blocked rich text box with the %view.name% & %scale% macros in my elevations so that the title is contained directly in the view and gets sent to layout rather than using separate titles in the layout page. Whatever I name the view in the Project Browser is automatically displayed as the title. The block is stored in my library and can be placed in any plan, section, elevation or cad detail. -
If the macros are written correctly and the custom fields are created then it's a simple matter to select all the windows and add the macro to that field in the Object information. If any window is modified, the data reported by the macros would automatically be updated with the appropriate values.

This can be done with a macro(s) and custom field(s). Typically I would put that information in the Window Schedule.

Larry, Do you have a link for this Webinar?

Larry, Your best source for this would be the local building department. Since this is not habitable space, the normal stair codes don't usually apply. If this was just for roof access, a ladder would be sufficient. I think the main thing you need to consider is the ability to remove/replace the equipment.

Normally, the text below the line should be the layout sheet number.

Use Stretch Planes: x = 0.00 z = 6.00

Did you click on the "Models" tab in the 3D Warehouse? I found BMW Z3 Roadsters & BMW M3 Coupes plus 1 M3 Convertible I didn't think the M3 was ever made as a convertible - I was surprised. I owned the Roadster myself. I didn't find a Ferrari 308 GTB but there are several Ferrari's - maybe one of those is close enough.
-
Check in the "3D Warehouse". There are lots to chose from.

I didn't say that. OTOH, I'm not sure it's something the Bldg Dept really needs. But it is appropriate for the home owner to know that the system is adequate.

The key here is to think in terms of 3D Objects. Chief doesn't have any conversion of 2D CAD to 3D other than converting parallel lines to walls and converting a Polyline to a Polyline Solid or Molding Polyline. If you model the stirrups as 3D objects and save as a Symbol you can then save & replicate them as needed.

Does anyone have a png image of a Bird of Paradise Plant? The only one I've found in the Libraries are single stocks.
-
I would just use a couple of Moldings on a Molding Polyline the same size as the Post. Column Molding (Rectangle with Stone Material) Cap Molding (Rectangle with Concrete Material)
-
That's almost exactly what I do for such items. The difference is that I create a Symbol of the Block.

I think you just need to start using the boolean operations on "SOLIDS". That allows much greater flexibility on how 2 solids are added, combined or subtracted. PSolids IMO are great for limited extrusions but once you want more complex 3D shapes you really need to use full 3D Solids.
-
Create another PSolid the shape of the hole. Place it where you want the hole to be and use PSolid Subtraction. Yes, it's a boolean operation which just means using 2 solids to combine or subtract.

Anyway to not show exterior wall niche in Plan View?
Joe_Carrick replied to Christina_Girerd's topic in General Q & A
This is a case for an additional "Floor" that is open below. IOW, the 1st floor is actually 2 levels. The lower level has the windows and no ceiling. The upper level has the niches and is open below. You can send the lower level to Layout and the niches wont be visible. Levels in Chief simply define a vertical section of a building. A "Floor" can be several "Levels" -
Does anyone have a good method of modeling such walls? I have one that's 32" tall (8" CMU Blocks) that steps back 2" at each course. I'm thinking that a molding profile might be the logical solution but maybe someone has a better way.

Site plan preparation is one of the things I hate to do. I'll be using this service in the future. Their Reviews are all positive.

What's this on my base cabinets? What do I do to remove it?
Joe_Carrick replied to GeneDavis's topic in General Q & A
I agree with Mark. It really appears that the doors are overlapping - probably due to a fixed size custom door with the "x" stretch plane outside of the door symbol.
