x15 Why isn't my auto archive storing any files?
Joe_Carrick replied to DianeP's topic in General Q & A
Diane, Auto Archive always overwrites the current archive file - no history. If you want extra backups you have to save manually, then there's a history. -

You have to "Build Framing" after the wall has been created - or have "Automatic Framing".

It would really be much more useful if the Stair dbx had a way to automatically add these items at the appropriate locations and orientation. Maybe X16 will have such capabilities. Manual placement is a pain and matching to stair rails for various rise/run ratios is difficult because stretching the symbol changes the shape of the profile.

Yes, X15 changed several NVPs so that formula doesn't work. You'll need to get Michael to provide a replacement.

I have some custom macros to do it. I believe X16 may provide something like that as well.

I'd use a Ramp.

Can Chief Architect perform structural load calculations?
Joe_Carrick replied to adgtx08's topic in General Q & A
Forte only does single member sizing. It doesn't do foundations, etc. -
You need to create a second floor. Then make everything but the loft area "open below"

Can Chief Architect perform structural load calculations?
Joe_Carrick replied to adgtx08's topic in General Q & A
I use Strucalc. It doesn't communicate with Chief. However, I can use Chief to calculate the loads and then enter those into Strucalc. Of course, you either need to be an engineer or an Architect to sign the calculations. -
Help with stairs (L-shaped with winder)
Joe_Carrick replied to JamieW_Campbell's topic in General Q & A
You'll have to do that with 4 Landings. Chief's L-Stairs and Winders are designed to do what the pic on the right shows. -
Since Glenn showed how it can be done - CA should be able to program it.

FWIW, I have a macro solution that lists all doors, drawers, drawer fronts and panels. It displays the details in the cabinet schedule and/or in a formatted text box. The price for this macro package is $75

I need symbols for ERV / HRV components. Zehnder Q600 & accessories/components would be perfect. Does anyone have that or similar?

Add them to the user library
-
Hi David, I know of dozens of manufacturers making hi quality face frame cabinets. Many of them have a presence in Chief's library catalogs. Personally have a distributorship for one Face Frame Cabinet Mfr and all parts (face frames, doors, drawer fronts, box sides, tops, bottoms, backs & shelves) are cut with cnc controls. Their dimensional accuracy limits are 1/32". I can put together an order online and get a quote in less than an hour. Face Frames and Door/Drawers usually are solid lumber pieces but cutting, etc is done with cnc. I do realize that a lot of manufactured cabinets are frameless and I also have access to one of them. CA does need to provide correct representation of frameless cabinets.
-
Just a few quick notes: Some ( maybe most) factory built Cabinets are Face Frame. Chief quite accurately handles these Frameless Cabinets are different and CA should provide for their differences as noted in the above posts. Not all Face Frame Cabinets are "Painted on Site". Most are in fact prefinished in the factory.

User Catalogue (can we have more than one?)
Joe_Carrick replied to JamieW_Campbell's topic in General Q & A
Just create folders and sub-folders within your user library. I have Master Folders for: Layouts Plans Then within those I have additional sub-folders (and in some cases more sub-folders) -
How to texture faces of a slab or 3D solid
Joe_Carrick replied to GeneDavis's topic in General Q & A
Exactly. You can then edit each face independently. -
I actually need a load calc. Plan check for this city wants a full panel schedule.
