  1. So this morning's Workshop hosted by Scott was very informative - and in some cases contentious - but I think everyone learned a little something. Here's what I now understand: 1. Layer Sets can control all Annotations on an individual Layer basis by specifying the Linestyle, Color & Text Style. a. In the case of Text Style the individual Layers can use a specific Text Style,or the Defauylt Text Style. b. If the Layers specify " Default Text Style" then any Text created on that Layer will use the Current Plan Defaults. c. If a specific Text Style is specified, Then changing that Text Style will modify all Text in the Drawing that uses that Text Style. 2. Annosets specify a set of Defaults which include - in most cases - Layer, Linestyle, Line Weight, Color & Text Style. In the case of Dimensions, there are additional settings and in the case of Rich Text there are fewer. 3. Annosets can also specify the Current Layer Set and the Current CAD Layer - but those to can be set to "Use Active" which will result in no change when that Annoset is selected. 4. There are several options for how to use Annosets, Layer Sets, and Text Styles. Everyone seems to have their own preferences. a. Select the Annoset which in turn selects the CAD Layer and Layer Set b. Select Annoset and Layer Set and CAD Layer independently. c. Let the Layerset control everything and modify Defaults separately d. Some hybrid combination ?????? The general consensus seemed to be that it would be really nice if Layer Sets had the following options: 1. Current CAD Layer (either a specific Layer or "Use Active") 2. Annoset (either a specific Annoset or "Use Active') This would allow the user to set up their system with either Layersets as KING or Annosets as KING. Most of the attendees seem to prefer using the Layerset as KING, but having the option of setting up our systems either way would in the long run satisfy everyone.
  2. For those of you that didn't download all 5 Library Files - there are a total of 50 images - only 10 in each file due to the size limits. Make sure you get all of the images. You can reorganize them in your user library so that their all in a single folder. I uploaded them in five separate files because the Forum only allows a maximum of 10 MB per post.
  3. HI Kay, I don't remember exactly but it was a free download a couple of years ago. I think the images are GIF but they might be PNG.
  4. OK, I manage to upload 5 separate files - see the Symbols Forum
  5. And Finally the last batch People Images 5.calibz
  6. and the 4th batch People Images 4.calibz
  7. Here's the 3rd batch People Images 3.calibz
  8. Here's the 2nd batch People Images 2.calibz
  9. Here's the 1st Batch of 5. Make sure you download each batch to get the complete set. People Images 1.calibz
  10. It turns out the People Images Library is almost 40 MB. I'll have to Break it down into 4-5 Files. Look for them later this evening.
  11. Hey Scott, Do you want some People to add - I've got about 50 in a Library. I'll post it in the Symbols Forum.
  12. The top newel is probably snapping to the balcony newel which is just outside the edge of the stair. Try editing the Balcony Railing end.
  13. Barton, I generally find that the "Light Bleed" is due to fixtures where the Light Source isn't positioned quite right within the Fixture - or it's the wrong type of Light Source. Getting the position, direction and type of light correct takes some experience - and usually a bit of trial and error - but it seems to always fix the problem.
  14. OK, so that will work on a Network (LAN) but probably not for external collaboration on the cloud. What about using it with Dropbox - will that work?
  15. Add a Floor! Use the Floor as a Roof. Then the Stairway will work - pluse you can have railing walls to enclose the "Room on that Floor". You just have to specify "No Roof above this Room"
  16. Create a Panel Railing off to the side of the stair. Then move it onto the stair and check "Follow Stairs" in the dbx.
  17. There are some good sets of "people" images on the web - some of which are free.
  18. Also, any CAD work that you add to the Elevation View will automatically be updated in the Layout. That includes TEXT. I do almost everything in the Elevation View - not in the Layout.
  19. I'm having some interesting experiences with the remodel/repair of our home after the kitchen fire last December. 1. Plans submitted for restoration/repair to the County of San Diego - over the counter approval (1 hour) 2. Exempt from the following code requirements which would have been required if there hadn't been a fire and we were just remodeling: a. Title 24 compliance - all 14 Sliding Glass Doors are Single Pane Aluminum Frame b. Fire Sprinkler System (house is 5150 sq.ft.) c. Guardrails don't have to be brought up to current code - Horizontal rails are 7" o.c. and rails are only 36" tall 3. However, the inspector is requiring code upgrades for "Fire Blocking and Draft Stops" which were not required when the house was built in 1990. 4. The Inspector said that an existing bath that had mechanical exhaust also had to have heat added - but I've not been able to find such a requirement in the code. 5. Drywall attached to an interior plywood shear panel needs to be attached with 1-5/8" screws into the studs, not just with 1-1/4" screws. IOW, we have Selective Code Enforcement for a reconstruction which has a total cost of more than $450,000. Some things are "Grand-Fathered" and some are not.
  20. Is the adjacent Layout Box perhaps covering the Wall Line? BTW, I actually add a very heavy perimeter line to my Wall Elevations before I send to Layout. I don't really trust the "Wall Line" to always be what I want it to be.
  21. Remember too that Layouts are measured in Paper Size. The Grids may be as much as 1/8" and you might need to move the Logo only 1/128". IAE, you could probably get very close with the Pt-to-Pt Move Tool.
  22. You know what's missing? Some people and a few cars in the parking spaces. Something to "Liven Up" the Mortuary.
  23. Or he could just have a 2nd Floor (1/16" tall) and have the Room in that area have no ceiling and no roof. Dead Flat Roof - No Slope at all. Seems to me that was the only way to have a flat roof back in V10 or even more recently.
  24. Geir, It appears you are in Norway - Oslo to be precise - so maybe they have your plans on file. OTOH, perhaps you can talk a 15 year old Chief user to have some Lutafisk. LOL Seriously, if you don't need it done in Chief - why not go to a local Architect and them do it for you? I'm sure they wouldn't charge more than the job is worth.
