You've been around a while Joey, I'm sure you know that attaching the plan will get you a quicker and more accurate answer. In the meantime, just drag the walls down in an elevation view.

On a bit of a side note, did you try to check "Edit Object Parts"? Edit>Edit Behaviors>Edit Object Parts or Shift+F8 -
Cut/trim Molding Extruded On Closed Polyline

Do a save as of the plan giving it a new name, delete all the unnecessary components and attach that trimmed down plan. It really really helps a lot to see the plan and exactly how you have it set up. -

You should probably attach a plan so we can see exactly how your moulding is set up, and I for one can't quite understand what you are trying to accomplish. Can you clarify a bit? -
Yep. Everything has its cost. One of the reasons I sometimes discourage "progress". So far CA seems to be doing a pretty good job balancing speed, efficiency, and functionality with the number of available features and options.

See post #10 in this thread... https://chieftalk.chiefarchitect.com/index.php?/topic/6460-time-tracker-accurate/

Swang, Not sure of the "why", but all you have to do is simply draw the 4th wall and specify the room as "Open Below".
-
Maybe it would help if you would clarify exactly how you want things to appear. Nothing looks incorrect to me. It looks like you have 2x10 rafters and 2x8 fascia. You just haven't built the framing (or the layer is turned off).
-
Posting the plan is definitely a good idea, but at the very least...a screenshot, drawing, or something to clarify what you're trying to accomplish and maybe a description of specifically what problem you're having.

Or perhaps hire someone like Kathlene Moore to do the renderings for you... http://castleview3d.com/

I would share except that every job is totally different. I essentially start with the OOB default layers and layersets and add layer and sets as necessary for any given job. We don't really do any standard production plans. Every job is typically pretty unique and the number of details, pages, and necessary layersets varies greatly. Plus, I am a huge fan of "Make Copy" when sending to layout and so I typically have a Layout Set 1, Layout Set 2, Layout Set 3, etc....all accessed through the layout. That way I don't need to keep track or remember what layerset does what. I'm still kinda surprised more people don't work that way.

You should probably post your question over on the HomeTalk forum. Most of us here aren't very familiar with the HD product line. ChiefTalk is more suited for those using Chief Architect as opposed to HomeTalk which is more specifically aimed toward helping those using Home Designer products

That's true, but it doesn't make it any less inconsiderate (especially considering there is another section for suggestions and hijacking threads is generally bad form anyway). How would you feel if you were really proud of the hard work you put into something and how well it turned out...so you show your client only to hear their first response... "Why didn't you do this?" Or have them ignore it altogether and instead of saying thank you or nice work...show you something they want you to change somewhere else. I'm sure Chief can accept all criticism you send their way and they'll invite it even. It doesn't make it any less frustrating or discouraging though. Like my wife likes to tell our children...pick a better time. Just my opinion. Anyway, from what I can tell X8 is shaping up to be one of the better upgrades to date. Good work Chief!

I don't think that post was in response to the complaints about stairs. Frankly, I think a lot of people are being super rude filling this thread up with complaints and requests. Larry started it to share a sneak peek and Chief Sales decided to update us with occasional new sneak peaks and things to look forward to with X8 and the majority of responses have been nothing but complaints and requests for more features... Doesn't really seem like the appropriate time or place. Isn't that what the suggestion forum is for?

Need Help With Mixed Roof Pitches On Front Of House
Alaskan_Son replied to Aesthete7's topic in General Q & A
I'm thinking some guys might be missing something here. The architect's design is the small image at the top of the post. The rendering at the bottom was the OP's attempt at illustrating a "better" sort of idea. The original plan actually has much less of a drainage problem IMO. -
Hmmm...Lew Buttery...Locks...

You betcha. Glad I could help

Your problem is that you're using the wrong type of camera... http://www.chiefarchitect.com/support/article/KB-00950/message-cannot-do-room-elevation-or-restricted-camera-view-from-this-point.html

How Re-Load Ca10 Full Version (10.b?) Onto Laptop?

You should probably just contact customer service and skip the installation of the old software if you're going to upgrade. -

While I agree with the idea you are trying to get across...I think you may have went a little far with your comparison. Qualified astronauts may be one of the single most exclusive groups on the planet (the best of the best and the most elite of the most elite don't even make the cut most of the time). Contractors and designers...not so much. -
For whatever it's worth, I've had the sun stop moving properly after messing around with it excessively. It started working again though after I gave the video card a break. Maybe yours did something similar?
