Have you tried messing around with the Reference Floor Display?
-
Can you attach a plan? Too many variables to makes guesses.
-
Curious...what would you want to do this for?
-
You're very welcome : )
-
Not really, no. The goal of breaking the cross section line is to get rid of all the messy extra lines created when cutting through adjacent cabinetry...
-
I'm resurrecting an old thread because I stumbled across a new piece of information. Had a situation where I needed to put 2 breaks in a cross section line... Moving the callout to either the left or the right and dragging back wasn't an option so I started digging a little deeper. Turns out, you can change the callout location to either left, right, or both sides, change the cross section line style to the blank line style and then change the callout location right back to centered. Very sneaky

Thanks Alan, to be truthful, I didn't really do all that much in this case. I just had to convert an existing sink to an undermount. The trickiest part was getting the CAD block and cutout right.

Had to modify one of the sinks from the library to match an existing situation. Just in case anyone else can use it too... Triple 43 Undermount.calibz

Exposed Rim Joists In Exterior View?
Alaskan_Son replied to WhistlerBuilder's topic in General Q & A
Your exterior wall definition has no exterior layers. Your siding, housewrap, and plywood are all designated as main layers. Select those items one by one and "Move Up" so they become exterior layers. -
Go into your layer settings to the Material Region layer and turn it on. You'll see a big lavender colored region that covers almost your entire first floor (except the little area where your floor finish is displaying). Select that material region and either delete it or give it a thickness.
-
Also..."On Object" should allow you to snap to the wall layers. You may not be able to snap to the center of the wall, but you can draw at the main layer and then just offset the line.
-
For drawng the headers, try turning on your framing layer and snapping to your framing.
-
You created a floor material region at some point with a zero thickness. Delete it or change the thickness. You have to turn on the Material Region layer to see it.
-
Are all your snaps actually checked? Specifically..."On Object"?
-
Try attaching the plan so one of us can take a look at it. My guess is that its a material setting issue though. Can't be sure without seeing a plan though.

In response to the OP, I recently had an SSD installed into my 5 year old desktop and its great. Also had one of these awesome little do-dads installed in the front of the tower too...I think I might like it even better than the SSD.

Check out this article. Explains it pretty good... http://www.howtogeek.com/171432/ram-disks-explained-what-they-are-and-why-you-probably-shouldnt-use-one/ Not sure it was mentioned in the article (at least I don't remember reading it), but it seems like using a RAM disk could potentially slow down a lot of other processes on the computer being that part of your RAM is being reserved for the drive.

Maybe attach a plan that displaying the problem so one of us can take a look. And let us know which item you can't seem to reflect.

Setting The "active" Layer For Linework, Text, Etc.
Alaskan_Son replied to GLOBE-Res's topic in General Q & A
If I understand correctly, you should probably become more familiar with Annotation Sets. Set them up so that your text and linework are the type you want them to be and on whatever layer you want them to be. OR, you can also use "Active Defaults" (little wrench with a red checkmark). You can change the active layers in there as well. -
Dang! I tried importing the symbol and I was denied because it had been created by a newer version. I figured it was because I hadn't made the jump to X8 yet...appears as if though I won't be able to open it till sometime next year I guess

Scott ordered some outlets that could be attached to island cabinetry (or almost any other item for that matter). The ones we have available in the library now do not display properly in both plan and 3D views without adjusting the origin. Once the origin is adjusted, they won't snap properly. Anyway, here are some that do all the above correctly. Created in X7...I just took the standard cabinet mounted outlets from the library and made some tweaks. Once imported they should be in your User Library in a folder titled "Cabinet Outlets". Cabinet Outlets.calibz

Three things… 1. Make sure you turn on ambient occlusion (for the door details to pop a little more). 2. Consider adding some interior light sources to brighten it up further (shadows off). 3. Once the ray trace is completed try adjusting the image properties.
-
I OBJECT!! I'm pretty sure you can't win a contest that's already been won... even if your solution does turn out to be more elegant (sorry, not at my computer so I couldn't test).
-
I haven't downloaded X8 yet.

P.S. I edited my original post to clarify where to find the symbols once imported.
