  1. Hi, I submitted this to Chief tech support yesterday as a possible bug, but they were not able to reproduce it. Has anyone else experienced this issue and if so maybe they can describe it better? I thought I'd put it out there to see if it's at all a common problem. Here's what I submitted: Chief, I've come across a possible bug / nuisance that I wanted to bring to your attention. Very often when I open a dialog box, I cannot begin typing an entry even though a field is highlighted. In order to edit the field, I have to mouse the cursor to it and click into it. This is counterintuitive as I think with most software if a field is highlighted then it's ready for direct keyboard editing. Hope I've explained this well enough. Screenshot attached. Example shown below is of a Callout DBX. Even though field is highlighted not able to type over unless I click into it. Thanks, Jim
  2. Danielle, You can copy the second door in place and redefine swing, style, etc. as needed. - Jim
  3. Could you do it as a 4-panel sliding door and schedule it out as a window?
  4. Ditto. I too have wondered about the best way to handle this. I've tried overwriting with dashed cad lines with white as color, put the railing wall on its own dashed layer, etc., but never had great results. What's the best solution for this?
  5. Okay, If you have not done this already, here's a link to X12 PDF manual below. Do a word search for "codec." https://cloud.chiefarchitect.com/1/pdf/documentation/chief-architect-x12-reference-manual.pdf In particular page 874: Looks like it's under Walkthrough Options? Jim
  6. Sorry, I can't help you as I don't have X12. Perhaps somebody else can chime in. Jim
  7. Bob, I think you're working with an older version, but with X17, it's here under Default Settings: Jim
  8. If you're on a PC, I too had problems with my initial X17 installation. What fixed it for me was a "repair installation." Go to Windows Settings, Apps, Installed Apps, Modify.
  9. I wonder if it's related to this issue that I reported to Support a few days ago. Seems similar to me. Chief acknowledged it as a bug and I assume they are working on it. In any case, you should probably open a support ticket and report it as a possible bug.
  10. Update -- I got a reply back just now from Chief Tech Support. They think it's a bug and will be looking into it further. Jim
  11. It's a real note tied to a keynote schedule. You know, I sort of suspect this too. I'll send in a bug report. Thanks, Jim
  12. I must have turned off the setting in this drawing (X17) that keeps arrows attached to notes. When I move the notes the arrow does not follow. Can someone remind me where this setting is? Thanks. Jim
  13. Joe, The behavior is explained in Help:
  14. Download the bonus catalog "Storage No. 1 Storage Furniture"
  15. No, they had rooms below. A mystery to me!
  16. I was revising some manual roof planes today from 2x8 to 2x12 structure... I noticed most of the roof planes maintained their plate heights with the roof structure / thickness adjusting upwards. This is what I'm used to. But, I noticed a few roof planes adjusted downwards, i.e. top of rafter elevations stayed put and the plate heights dropped. I was wondering what determines this behavior? Thanks again, Jim
  17. I gave it a try. I chose an "integrated pull" from the core catalog. Seems to work fine. Screen shot below. Maybe it has to do with how the pull is defined? "Integrated" might imply some sort of built in offset as part of the definition as opposed to flush? I dunno - I'm not super familiar with cabinets and maybe someone else can chime in here...
  18. It's basically a workaround -- a combination of two barn doors and a door opening. I hope Chief considers adding this feature to barn doors. Seems like they already have the programming done for other door options like sliders or pretty close at least.
  19. Thanks Shane. I'll post this as a suggestion to Chief on the forum. Funny, there was a post back in August about this which I made a similar suggestion to yours. Totally forgot - I must be losing my mind! Jim
  20. Hi, Does Chief allow a stacking barn door option like in the picture below? Thanks,
  21. Joe, take a look at the material definition. It might be rotated. Jim
  22. SC, Download worked for me... However, you uploaded the whole Project (.CAPROJ) file. This is essentially a file that contains all project assets. This explains the very large file size and why you could not upload to the forum using usual methods. (I don't think forum members would want to upload a whole project file either, but a single .PLAN model file is okay). What you want to do is just upload only the .PLAN file (zipped). The .PLAN file is the building model without all the other stuff. Here I zipped your .PLAN file, which comes in under 4 MB. I attached the .zip file for your reference. 16x30 Balogh (2).zip
  23. Pretty good Chief video tutorial here. (about minute 11 is your case). https://www.chiefarchitect.com/videos/watch/1521/manually-drawing-dormers.html?playlist=95
