Berkeley bans natural gas in new construction
Francois replied to Renerabbitt's topic in Building Codes and Compliance
I hope your T24 complied with a large margin because the new one will be reduced by a lot considering an electric water heater. I would favor a house without gas. -
I use that on exterior steps for a deck where I can expand the length of the steps. Low risers but longer threads make it easier to climb: 6R15T/6R

Thank you Rene -
I also use a thumb rule that is "2 risers + 1 thread =~ 27"" when risers are low or threads are deep. Great for decks or walkway steps

Solver, sorry for this late reply but thank you for your help on the framing issue I had.
-
Here is the file. I will appreciate any comment related to that design too I have tried to keep the original element of the building but i think there is a problem with the front roof line. Framing_Issues.zip

Any reason roof rafters would not frame?

Thanks solver and Joey. Its time to upgrade to X11 but I want to upgrade the computer too.

Solver, I am using X-8. You may have referred me to a X-11 layer name. In X-8 the layer set name is "Opening indicator" It does not create a dotted line to represent the header over a window. I guess I will use a dotted polyline. Time to update to X-11
-
Thanks solver. I never used that one.

We have door headers but no window headers. I'm still in X-8. Do we have window headers in X-11?
-
Got it. Thanks Joe

Doors and windows have a label showing on floor plan. When I open "Door Schedules" or "windows schedules" , a second label is attached to the units but it has a different number. Then I have two different labels. If suppress label in the window dbx, then both go away. Any remarks about this? Thanks This is on CA-8

How do you remove studs showing in walls on plan view?
Francois replied to Francois's topic in General Q & A
Thanks Chopsaw. -
Sorry for the previous post. I do not know how it happened!!! My question is "How do you remove studs still showing in walls in plan view?"
-
Oops! No I did not get it Scott. I was hoping to find a toggle kind of tool to turn one of the plans referenced in layout on or off so (it is still linked to the one layout). Does it mean you'll need a 2nd layout for that plan?
-
Got it. Thank you Scott.

Is there a way to "un-refer" a plan from layout? My layout has three plans but one of them contains some PDFs that slows down the system. Thanks This is in X8

Is there still no way to calculate drywall?

Thanks Chopsaw. I copied the CAD details to plan A but did not get the appropriate layers associated with them. I'll try your suggestion later tonight.

I drew a kitchen plan A and a revised it as plan renamed B which has a file in CAD management. Question: How do I move this CAD management file in plan A? Thanks

""Is it challenging to get it set up and have chief recognize the second monitor?"" Go "Display settings" then "Multiple Displays" Select "Extend desktop to this display. That way you can have multiple windows open in Chief, such as Layout or plan view, or whatever you choose on separate screens. Its an easy process.
