  1. Thanks Rob. I am just going to draw it with CAD lines as I only need a plan view for now. I'm not sure why it isn't working...
  2. I'm trying to create a shower pan symbol that I can change in width and depth and still have the drain center (without distortion). The first image shows how I have the symbol setup using stretch planes. When I resize, the width works just fine, however, changing the depth, keeps the drain the same distance from the back. I want the drain to stay towards the middle. What am I doing wrong? Thanks.
  3. Thanks Chop. I was hoping there was a way to do that. I've got to say, I'm really loving this software!
  4. I want to create a custom table on the layout page with such items as cabinet finish, wood species, construction type, etc. I found this in the knowledge database "https://www.chiefarchitect.com/support/article/KB-00042/creating-a-text-based-table-or-legend.html", but it's not quite what I'm looking for. I was hoping to be able to format it more like the Layout tables that have a centered title bar. Is there any way to customize a layout table or schedule so that I can input my own columns without having to build my own grid lines?
  5. Thanks Michael. That's a great tip. Kevin
  6. That's what I was missing. So, if you trim everything outside the border, sending to layout will size the layout box to the contents of the CAD Detail. Thanks for your help and your patience! Kevin
  7. The first attachment shows CAD DETAIL 01 (COUNTER DETAIL 01). The second attachment shows CAD DETAIL 02 (COUNTER DETAIL 02). CAD DETAIL 02 was created by duplicating CAD DETAIL 01 and making some minor changes. The red rectangles are the guide borders which have the details geometrically centered inside. I still have to send each CAD detail out separately to layout. When they get to layout, I have to resize the layout boxes to line up with the guide border I created in the each CAD DETAIL page. You asked above "why would you resize the layout box (if it's based on a border)". I don't see any other way when the drawings are coming from two different CAD details. I must be missing something...
  8. Maybe I don't understand what you're defining as a border. I thought you meant to draw a rectangular polyline around the area in the CAD detail view to act as a guide for resizing the layout box borders in layout. I am using the "Send to Layout" button in the top left menu. There is no option in this DBX to define a "border". I can send the current screen, but that does not accurately send only the contents of the area I want to send. What am I missing?
  9. I get that, but you have to "eye" the resizing of the layout box as the borders won't snap to anything referenced in that box. Or are you suggesting there is a way to send to layout by pre-selecting a border in the CAD detail view and this will automatically size the layout box (or something similar)? If so, this is not an option that I can see in the "Send to Layout" dbx. Thanks again!
  10. Thanks for the reply Rob. I am trying this method and finding that the layout box borders do not snap to the rectangular polyline I drew in the CAD detail. You say it's simple, but how without being able to size the layout box borders to the same size as the rectangular polyline used as the guide?
  11. FWIW, there's a command for this in AutoCAD to align the contents of layout boxes called ALIGNSPACE.
  12. I've got a layout page with two identically sized layout boxes - see attached. Layout box 02 is merely a copy of layout box 01 that I moved in position so that it's equidistantly spaced in relation to the title block separator lines. Layout box 02 needs to reference a CAD detail that is similar to the CAD detail for layout box 01 - however, with a slight change. Is it possible to change which CAD detail layout box 02 references? Much thanks, Kevin
  13. It's mostly out of curiosity, however custom face frame cabinets are built this way all the time in our market to avoid seams between the frames. Our shop will do this especially if they're inset.
  14. Mark - I thought you might have a clever way of building this run of wall cabinets in one piece. I was able to fake it by reducing the stiles where the cabinet over the hood connects to the adjacent cabinets. Can this be done in one piece?
  15. Thanks Michael. That's helpful!
  16. Graham - thanks for the reply. No, I don't want all those extra lines in my plan, but was hoping to use them temporarily to apply shoe molding and an applied molding on the bottom rail. I know this can be automated in the cabinet DBX, however, I am not happy with how some things are joining up (especially at the juncture of a blind corner cabinet). I will have to pull them back manually from the overall outline, I guess.
  17. Is it possible to display the toe kick outline in a saved plan view? Thanks, Kevin
  18. Can a diagonal corner wall cabinet be adjusted so that the sides are 14" deep (in lieu of standard 12") and fill the corner completely - (please see attached image)? Thanks, Kevin
  19. Steve - thanks for the video - very helpful. I did finally get it if you read my last post. I was trying to manipulate a railing wall in elevation view which evidently isn't allowed. When it was changed to a standard wall, it was quite easy. As far as the framing under the stairs - this is an as-built and the client currently has carpeting. I am merely trying to show her how it would look with wood treads and painted handrails/newels. That said, there is definitely something strange going on with the framing beneath the drywall. I measured the space twice on two different days. The layout is correct, so they must have done something "creative" with the stringers underneath. Thanks again for your videos. I can say that I've watched them all and have been a huge help. Kevin
  20. Worked great once I changed it back to a standard wall. Thanks again Guys!
  21. Thanks Eric. That must be where I'm going wrong. I'll give it another try this afternoon. Kevin
