  1. I figured it out. I was pulling on the wrong diamond.
  2. I'm drawing some hood details and trying to offset an arc by 3/8" in one direction and 5/8" in the other. The concentric setting doesn't seem to be affecting arcs in that it ignores the jump number. What am I missing? Thanks, Kevin
  3. Chop - does that mean I have to import this new symbol from the app it was created in? I tried to select the existing symbol AND the circular CAD line, but I no longer have the option to convert to a symbol. How is this done in CA or is it necessary to import again with the circle as part of the geometry?
  4. I've been importing some symbols today for my user catalog. I've got a 3-bladed ceiling fan where the origin isn't geometrically centered. I thought by moving the model (in the symbol DBX) so that the Y-axis was centered on the motor, this would put the plan origin in the correct place. Not the case. How do I go about this? Thanks, Kevin
  5. Thank you Michael. I didn't realize the drain center was in the correct location after resizing when viewed in 3D - it was just the 2D symbol that wasn't updating. I appreciate the video. Kevin
  6. Thanks Michael. I've tried this and the symbol will not re-center when I adjust the depth, so the symbol is not accurate. Attached is the symbol if helpful... shower pan resize.calibz
  7. Thanks Michael. Converting to Symbol is how I created the object to begin with (used a Chief library symbol). Are you suggesting to try it again after resizing? Kevin
  8. Thanks Rob. I am just going to draw it with CAD lines as I only need a plan view for now. I'm not sure why it isn't working...
  9. I'm trying to create a shower pan symbol that I can change in width and depth and still have the drain center (without distortion). The first image shows how I have the symbol setup using stretch planes. When I resize, the width works just fine, however, changing the depth, keeps the drain the same distance from the back. I want the drain to stay towards the middle. What am I doing wrong? Thanks.
  10. Thanks Chop. I was hoping there was a way to do that. I've got to say, I'm really loving this software!
  11. I want to create a custom table on the layout page with such items as cabinet finish, wood species, construction type, etc. I found this in the knowledge database "https://www.chiefarchitect.com/support/article/KB-00042/creating-a-text-based-table-or-legend.html", but it's not quite what I'm looking for. I was hoping to be able to format it more like the Layout tables that have a centered title bar. Is there any way to customize a layout table or schedule so that I can input my own columns without having to build my own grid lines?
  12. Thanks Michael. That's a great tip. Kevin
  13. That's what I was missing. So, if you trim everything outside the border, sending to layout will size the layout box to the contents of the CAD Detail. Thanks for your help and your patience! Kevin
  14. The first attachment shows CAD DETAIL 01 (COUNTER DETAIL 01). The second attachment shows CAD DETAIL 02 (COUNTER DETAIL 02). CAD DETAIL 02 was created by duplicating CAD DETAIL 01 and making some minor changes. The red rectangles are the guide borders which have the details geometrically centered inside. I still have to send each CAD detail out separately to layout. When they get to layout, I have to resize the layout boxes to line up with the guide border I created in the each CAD DETAIL page. You asked above "why would you resize the layout box (if it's based on a border)". I don't see any other way when the drawings are coming from two different CAD details. I must be missing something...
  15. Maybe I don't understand what you're defining as a border. I thought you meant to draw a rectangular polyline around the area in the CAD detail view to act as a guide for resizing the layout box borders in layout. I am using the "Send to Layout" button in the top left menu. There is no option in this DBX to define a "border". I can send the current screen, but that does not accurately send only the contents of the area I want to send. What am I missing?
  16. I get that, but you have to "eye" the resizing of the layout box as the borders won't snap to anything referenced in that box. Or are you suggesting there is a way to send to layout by pre-selecting a border in the CAD detail view and this will automatically size the layout box (or something similar)? If so, this is not an option that I can see in the "Send to Layout" dbx. Thanks again!
  17. Thanks for the reply Rob. I am trying this method and finding that the layout box borders do not snap to the rectangular polyline I drew in the CAD detail. You say it's simple, but how without being able to size the layout box borders to the same size as the rectangular polyline used as the guide?
  18. FWIW, there's a command for this in AutoCAD to align the contents of layout boxes called ALIGNSPACE.
  19. I've got a layout page with two identically sized layout boxes - see attached. Layout box 02 is merely a copy of layout box 01 that I moved in position so that it's equidistantly spaced in relation to the title block separator lines. Layout box 02 needs to reference a CAD detail that is similar to the CAD detail for layout box 01 - however, with a slight change. Is it possible to change which CAD detail layout box 02 references? Much thanks, Kevin
  20. It's mostly out of curiosity, however custom face frame cabinets are built this way all the time in our market to avoid seams between the frames. Our shop will do this especially if they're inset.
  21. Mark - I thought you might have a clever way of building this run of wall cabinets in one piece. I was able to fake it by reducing the stiles where the cabinet over the hood connects to the adjacent cabinets. Can this be done in one piece?
