  1. I get that, but you have to "eye" the resizing of the layout box as the borders won't snap to anything referenced in that box. Or are you suggesting there is a way to send to layout by pre-selecting a border in the CAD detail view and this will automatically size the layout box (or something similar)? If so, this is not an option that I can see in the "Send to Layout" dbx. Thanks again!
  2. Thanks for the reply Rob. I am trying this method and finding that the layout box borders do not snap to the rectangular polyline I drew in the CAD detail. You say it's simple, but how without being able to size the layout box borders to the same size as the rectangular polyline used as the guide?
  3. FWIW, there's a command for this in AutoCAD to align the contents of layout boxes called ALIGNSPACE.
  4. I've got a layout page with two identically sized layout boxes - see attached. Layout box 02 is merely a copy of layout box 01 that I moved in position so that it's equidistantly spaced in relation to the title block separator lines. Layout box 02 needs to reference a CAD detail that is similar to the CAD detail for layout box 01 - however, with a slight change. Is it possible to change which CAD detail layout box 02 references? Much thanks, Kevin
  5. It's mostly out of curiosity, however custom face frame cabinets are built this way all the time in our market to avoid seams between the frames. Our shop will do this especially if they're inset.
  6. Mark - I thought you might have a clever way of building this run of wall cabinets in one piece. I was able to fake it by reducing the stiles where the cabinet over the hood connects to the adjacent cabinets. Can this be done in one piece?
  7. Thanks Michael. That's helpful!
  8. Graham - thanks for the reply. No, I don't want all those extra lines in my plan, but was hoping to use them temporarily to apply shoe molding and an applied molding on the bottom rail. I know this can be automated in the cabinet DBX, however, I am not happy with how some things are joining up (especially at the juncture of a blind corner cabinet). I will have to pull them back manually from the overall outline, I guess.
  9. Is it possible to display the toe kick outline in a saved plan view? Thanks, Kevin
  10. Can a diagonal corner wall cabinet be adjusted so that the sides are 14" deep (in lieu of standard 12") and fill the corner completely - (please see attached image)? Thanks, Kevin
  11. Steve - thanks for the video - very helpful. I did finally get it if you read my last post. I was trying to manipulate a railing wall in elevation view which evidently isn't allowed. When it was changed to a standard wall, it was quite easy. As far as the framing under the stairs - this is an as-built and the client currently has carpeting. I am merely trying to show her how it would look with wood treads and painted handrails/newels. That said, there is definitely something strange going on with the framing beneath the drywall. I measured the space twice on two different days. The layout is correct, so they must have done something "creative" with the stringers underneath. Thanks again for your videos. I can say that I've watched them all and have been a huge help. Kevin
  12. Worked great once I changed it back to a standard wall. Thanks again Guys!
  13. Thanks Eric. That must be where I'm going wrong. I'll give it another try this afternoon. Kevin
  14. Mick - I gave it a try this morning and am not getting it. From what type of view am I to be editing the wall? I've tried cross section/elevation and the wall won't break from this view and I'm not getting any diamond handles to edit. Also, in step 6 above you state "Add Wall Cap to new sloped Wall". Was I to have already sloped it at this point? I'd really appreciate you walking me through this. Below is an image of how far I've gotten, but am unable to break or manipulate wall shape. Thanks again, Kevin
  15. Thanks Glenn - just seeing this. Kevin
  16. Mick - thanks for taking the time to explain this. I'll give it a shot in the morning... How do you get the "break" in the top of the wall where it starts to slope downward? Can you break a wall in elevation? I don't see that in your steps. Also, what does it mean to make the railing "solid". Thanks again, Kevin
  17. I run into this all the time and have never come up with a satisfactory way to do it. First attachment is a photo of the actual space. I am trying to recreate the wall that follows the stairs. Ticking "follow stairs" does nothing. Should I be manually drawing this shape and forget about CA automating it for me? And if I do, should I use an invisible wall on which to draw over? I still need a wall here to break the stairs, so not sure what to do... I have seen videos where the presenter is tugging on walls and manually shaping them; however, I have no luck with this. Thank you. CHF_David 1st Floor_AS-BUILT_02-25-20.plan
  18. Eric Thanks! That's exactly what I wanted to do. The video was a BIG help!
  19. Eric - I don't understand what you mean, but the image you show on the left is what I'm looking for. How did you do it? Thanks, Kevin
  20. Thank you David. I'm talking about where the room divider actually goes. What you quoted above was my response to Ryan with his suggested method. Here is the image again showing where I need the room divider. It's the dashed line to the left (not the red CAD line). The lower ceiling in the right room projects out a bit into the great room with higher ceilings. Does this make sense? Kevin
