  1. For you guys who need an engineer to stamp your work in your state or town. What have your experiences been like? Do they mostly ask for the dwg files if they need to make changes or do they go back and forth with you on what they want you to change or add before they stamp it? Mine has mostly been them asking for the cad files automatically and thats the last i hear from them. This current project has been looked over by an engineer and i am having to do all his work. He has calculated lvls and other members but has had me do all the work. Anyone else dealt with this?
  2. greetings from another alabamaian, daphne to be exact. glad your problem was solved.

    trim

i call it exterior trim, hides the imperfections at corners. for those who may wonder, polyline solids worked great with a wood material and paint color.

anyone want to take a shot at figuring out what the "x" is in the dining room? obviously an error that i cannot remove nor find the layer to atleast turn it off. plan file attached. ty's_house_-_FURNITURE.plan
  8. Very true. To me 2d black and white equals an autocad presentation. Why not use chief to its potential. Looking forward to trying the path. I assume you will need some sort of video editor to add to the walk through like music?
  9. Walk through path, hmmm no wonder mine looks amateur. I need to look that up, thanks chopsaw.
  10. https://www.chiefarchitect.com/videos/watch/10132/breckenridge-walkthrough-video.html?autoplay=10132 How do they get this to walk so smoothly for a walk thru? Zooming in with the wheel does not give that kind of presentation. And i would love to know how to add music to the presentation. That is a great addition to make the vid more professional.
  11. sure didn't. there is it plane sight too lol.
  12. thanks. I do structural design on navy ships as a day job and then residential plans on nights and weekends.
  13. mtl, no need for the search box. what i ended up doing is using a half wall, took off the cap and did a polyline countertop. your pony wall gave me the idea. gave it a little offset on the end for a better look. thanks
  14. it's not a pony wall but you have a really good idea i never thought of trying. thanks man
  15. wall to counter shown. i looked in the cabinet properties and see mouldings but it places it on the actual countertop (weird). how can i continue the baseboard on the backside bottom of the cabinets? don't be hatin on my electrical. i have to redo the whole area. haha
  16. yep, thats it. thanks. i tried to export in plan view.
  17. i forgot how to share a model in 3d viewer. its been a awhile. help?
  18. Yeah, i see where to extend countertops outward but not up. Never made them before.
  19. You guys wanna throw out your ways of creating raised counters? Is there a vid on this? Thanks!
  20. yep, that worked. thanks, i was hoping it would rebuild it for me to make sure it was exact. but i got it.
  21. so the client changed the foundation on me after i completed the plans. not a big deal. went from a 4" mono slab to a raised 16" stemwall. now i am having problems running the new foundation. it creates the home but not the back covered porch or carport. all floor need to be 16" above grade. (2 blocks). any suggestions of what i'm doing wrong? Carl_Kristen_Wade3.plan
  22. any clue why my wall is missing? i have an 18" overhang that should have created it. Carl_Kristen_Wade3.plan
  23. chop ALWAYS got the answers. thanks man, that was it!

    framing

so i set up my framing defaults to 7.5" ridge and 5.5" rafters. it keeps framing to a 11.25" ridge and 9.25" rafters? why does it keep bypassing what i tell it too?
