Hey guys, I normally just draw what I need manually when I get these type homes every now and then. But when you have a home on a stem wall foundation but add a patio/porch and carport/garage and set their spaces to mono slab, chief only generates the main home foundation and leaves the mono slabs out?

@Joe_Carrickcould you provide a screenshot of how you use the graphic scale? I am not too familiar with that.

I like this alot. When I send off for prints, I guarantee you they are to scale. In the email, i forward the pdf set of plans and ask them for a certain amount of copies, black and white, 24x36 sheet size. I just scaled one right now and it's spot on. The thing is, they can get reprinted by other people like the owner or builder and if it is printed wrong like you guys say, ultimately my name is on the drawing and that is not a good thing.

I work with multiple builders and aren't sure. They should be building to the printed dimensions and only use a scale if a dimension is missing, like interior dims. This issue isn't common but when it is, I like to investigate why they are saying that about the scale being off.

Agreed. I use a plot shop down the road. They print a lot of the local designer's and architects drawings so I trust them. I do know extra prints get sent off from builder's so who knows where they send them. I just don't like hearing stuff like that on my work. Last thing I want to be responsible for are my plans being screwed up and pissing people off.

How many of you have ever had a client/builder say something wasn't to scale on the dwg? I have at least 1 person a year say this. Now, here is the thing, how in the hell is this even possible? Especially when I am notified of it and I go and check the layout view and it is indeed to scale. It is always the floorplan view and when I send the view over to the layout file it defaults to 1/4"=1'-0" which is the norm. I do not print the drawings out when I am done anymore. We wait until the engineering is done and then send off for a couple prints for the client to pick up. So I never really go behind myself and check every view with my scale. Every one of my drawings get printed on 24x36 border. So, it is my assumption that just maybe, someone is printing off another copy on a smaller border, ie. 18X24 or something. I shouldn't have to not trust in chief's layout views and them being to scale when I send them over. I asked a builder I work with the other day " over the past two years we have worked together on your homes and reno's, have you had any issues with my work on the job sites". He said only once. It was an addition we did 2 years ago and nothing was to scale on the floorplan so we just had to do the best we could. They never notified me so I was clueless. I get back home and open the old file and sure enough, there it was when I right clicked on the view and went to "rescale", it was set at 1/4"=1'-0". Long Story for one topic but it just boggles my mind when I am told this. I had a guy 6 years ago say that none of the toilets were to scale. I had to laugh at that one.

Very odd but glad it has been figured out for future situations.

I found them with the "find object in plan". I know what happened. Those are my porch railings (-11.0000) which I gave a wall thickness to match the column thickness's which has been discussed here several times. Apparently that is when chief generates a particular name??

Track them down in the working plan file. Every wall I click properties on doesn't pull up with that name. I found -11.0000 in the wall dropdown but you can't delete it because apparently is used somewhere lol. I will try solver's idea and see what happens. Why does chief set up those names? I didn't use a custom name for any wall types.

Is there a way to keep certain walls out of the schedule if you can't track them down to change their names? I have been getting some weird names lately that I know I didn't set up.

It took me a little while to do the same thing and that is delete the wall fill. I couldn't understand where those polyline boxes were coming from until I investigated it.

I see he had the same issue with his wall end.

I was just thinking. If I widened the treads I simply extend the wall to the bottom tread and essentially answered my own question if you look back at my first post. "Let chief angle the wall". duh! Thanks for the help guys. Of course now the damn wall stud is exposed lol. whatever!!!

Thanks guys, adding a complete break in the stairs worked, which broke it into two stairs basically. I mean if it works it works I guess. lol. Now onto the wall breaks. I will be glad to figure that out since dormer walls can sometimes be a pain in the same sense.

One thing I have have not yet mastered is manipulating wall breaks in elevation views. Aren't we supposed to be able to add a break, grab a grip and pull to the desired shape? It has never worked for me. Also, Can you add a break on stairs in plan view and pull grips? The pic below shows what I am trying to do. Bring down the wall to an angle leaving some exposed treads and then extend the tread widths to be flush over the angled wall. I normally just add a wall flush under the stairs and chief angles it for me. I don't want to do that on this home though.

Is there an update for X13? I opened the program first thing today and it said there was an update. I clicked too fast and bypassed it. Now it is not asking if I want to download upon closing and reopening. Is it in the digital locker somewhere?

I also found an opening in your file in the area you are talking about and it was a "slab door" that didn't belong there.
