Just got my first matterport scan......saved me alot of time. I know a guy who does it and the fee was very cheap and only 2 hours for a complete as built of a 2800 sq foot home scanned every 3 feet. I will only use him for huge renovations involving all the interior walls. I received pdf's and CAD files of the floor plan (dimensioned), elevations and an isometric view to scale. No brainer to me and I include the fee in my charge to the client. There is nothing easier than importing the CAD file into chief and tracing the walls. We double checked the dimensions to the as built and it is damn near perfect.

How come when we uncheck "no locate" for railing walls (below in brown) used to form porches to get them auto exterior dimensioned, auto dimensions then doesn't include the window and doors? If no locate is kept checked windows and doors are then included but the railing walls aren't in the auto dimensions? I have often wondered this. Apparently there is a setting?

Can someone remind me of the process to get sketchup models into CA library once it has been downloaded? Thanks
-
Yeah, I ended up doing exactly that. Polyline solids. This way I can cut a cross section and it will show the sill and I will add the anchor bolt from the library. Thanks!
-
I got the footer situated but will leave this up for the sill plate question.

I will be honest, I never manipulate mono footer shapes in CA as I have my own CAD details I use. On this job I will need need to change them to look like the attachment below. What do I change in the settings to make the chamfer in the cross section look like the footer detail below? Also, On CMU walls, will auto building create the sill plates for the trusses to sit on?

Stair rake wall won't connect to balcony wall

I was wondering the same thing. Been seeing a lot of that lately for lame reasons. Whoever it was. -
much better......no explanation but I will take it.

oddly that worked......I will keep all of this in mind on the next home. Thanks guys....

I will delete roof, check settings and rebuild guys.......I will let ya know.
-
What is that "mark as edited"? I have never messed with unchecking that. Thanks

It's like it is trying to take into account 2x6 rafters.....I will figure it out.
-
I noticed that as well. Just trying to figure out why auto build is doing that. I mean the top plate height is correct in the settings too.
-
Is there a bug in X13 that causes this (canted drywall)? It never used to happen. See below, The roof was auto-built with 2x8 rafters.

Hmmmmm, I am going to check this out.
-
It's not back clipped. I am aware of those instances though.

I have always wondered the point in being able to drag this grip on the camera?? Lengthen or shorten it. An elevation view is an elevation view no matter what you do with the grip.

Man, thanks!

Guys, it's been a while since an all mono slab home. I forgot how to fix the footer parts once I make all porches drop down 3 1/2". How do we do this again? You screw with number in the setting for the stem wall and it changes the floor heigh back to 0. If you rebuild the foundation, the floor height goes back to 0 as well.

Nice! I actually didn't have that one downloaded. Just got it from the 3D library.
-
Anyone know if these type are hidden in the catalog anywhere? I have just about all of the lighting downloaded from the 3D library.

I am stuck in my ways but will definetely look into this. I do love the auto detail command for all my elevations and cross sections.

I hear ya man. I guess I am spoiled with Autocad for the 2d details. Been using it since 1996 and are super quick with it. Every time I try and use chief for my Cad details it just slows me down a bit. I have two files in AutoCad I use for all my plans. One file is miscellaneous footing details and the other is strapping/structural details. I do not draw those details every time I create a new plan and just grab what I need. If I am doing this the hard way please let me know because I really would like to steer away from AutoCad all together.

Apparently my monthly subscription to AutoCad Lite has been slowly increasing over the past year and nothing is new to justify that. When you call those bozo's they stutter and cannot give you a reason for the increase. So, when you export files from CA to .dwg are they compatible with other drafting softwares? Even the free ones? I keep AutoCad in my back pocket for two reasons, it is quicker for me on my CAD details and other engineers use it for when I forward them files. I know .dwg is .dwg but wanted to see what you guys do?
