  1. It doesn't seem like it would be that complicated for Chief to come up with something where that rafters will be able to over lay the roof sheeting some how but then again I know nothing about programming. If you were able to put a wide wall on the roof and make it 1 1/2" high then you would have something for your roof base line to work off of. That may sound stupid but there is some truth to it.
  2. I'm a little reluctant to say this because whenever someone sends me in a whole new direction I get stressed out. As I looked at your layer sets I see myself a few years ago when I had a lot of issues with layer sets. It was strongly suggested to me by a few people on this forum to learn how to use annotation sets. Reluctantly I went ahead and spent about a week learning and setting them up and It ended up being the best thing I ever did, because once layers are set they hold well and you stay consistent. Saves me a lot of time and aggravation. Thanks to people like Perry, Joe C, Tommy and a few others. They helped me through it and I'm very great full to them. Made a huge difference in my productivity and constancy. I don't think you will take as long as I did to set it up because I'm a slow learner and I want everything perfect so I'm my own worst enemy at times unless you share my same qualities LOL!! You can set up an annotation set quickly once you understand it.
  3. I don't use trusses in any of my builds but if It makes more sense to use them in my designs to get the look I want then why not use them. I will study the videos and the manual.
  4. Nice Video! Is there a setting that the rafters will cut at the roof sheeting like we do with a wall that cuts at the roof?
  5. Let me know if you find the video. I haven't seen it
  6. Is there an easy way or a box I'm not checking to get rid of these rafter tails? I know I can shorten them by just dragging them back but I would think there is a better way. Would be nice if there was a box to check for "California Tie In Framing" or something. I have always been able to work around it but never found another solution. Help would be greatly appreciated!
  7. To bad we can't use a negative number for the casing to inset it The base is easy
  8. Good one Eric! I was just now building one for my library for future. Good to have on hand because this is getting more popular in the residential industry. At least for me it is.
  9. There are plenty of video's on how to configure pony walls in your video help section. Its really easy to setup and you can save it to the library. Also check out the video on material region.
  10. What he said Here is where you do the offset
  11. Good point Jeldwin does have a nice selection. I thought we had jeldwin in our library at one point?
  12. Need California Window Library Catalogs Sure would be nice if we could get the "Milgard" window manufacturer in our library or at least some other windows that sell here is California. I'm not a big Pella fan. "Migard" would be great to have the full catalog Maybe look into "MI" windows also as a lower end, low cost window
  13. So can you tell me how to make the hole? I looked and couldn't find any instruction on that. More importantly if you can tell where to find the instructions I can read it myself.
  14. Un-finished but here is my work if you can use it. Bring it in to your library to use it Heart Frame.calibz Glass Heart.calibz
  15. I tried as a challenge and this is as far as I could get so far. Not sure where to go from here though. Need to somehow get it in the wall and put glass and grids in it.
  16. I'll elaborate; If you draw the cad line on the elevation view to your shape you can select your convert poly line tool and convert it to a material region and then set your depth and material and it will locate on the wall right where you need it. Very handy tool!
  17. I use the perspective floor over view a lot to check my work. You can usually see easily where problems may be. Here is an example where it shows your walls heights not lining up (sometimes that may be intentional) and you can also see where the roof eave cuts into a wall. This is very usefull to me to check my work. You should make sure all the room heights and settings are right before you start to build your room. Same with foundation, check before you build it.
  18. There are "cad blocks" and "architectural blocks", Roofs and walls don't fall under either of them. Also when you want to group a cad item with an architectural item the block wont work either. Its one or the other. Mr. Chop is right. For what your doing you would have to save as a plan file. Not sure of any other ways to do it.
  19. Not sure if I'm helping. Was just up for the challenge. Its not that its real complicated, you just need to draw the entire house correctly and the roof is pretty easy if you get all the rooms right.
  20. Here is a start, Complicated roof though!
  21. Thank you! I had never used the short cut tool before. I would open and make the selection in the dialog box but it is no longer there. I think I get mixed up at version changes because there will be times I don't use the program for several months. Thanks for the quick answer!
