  1. Wanting to create this design, see attached. I am restricted to 8/12 pitch on the main roof, Do I need to rebuild the existing roof plans or can they be converted. I hate that ALL roof planes are removed as two are not o be this type & have differing pitches & materials on them. I see that manual roof planes can be preserved. Good. That means I have to rebuild them separately every time i rebuild the roof.
  2. OK that fixed the lower hallway floor but the upper hallway is still not filling in with Auto Detail.
  3. Glenn you are correct I was not looking any further than the first field & saw concrete on the right panel and moved on not knowing that each had to be inspected. Thanks for the kick.
  4. OK uncheck all level zero floors under this room but still the section view does not work when I hit Auto Detail. Only the garage floor shows concrete hatch. All others are blank.
  5. In other words on a stem wall with slab on fill should the foundation have a floor? Or should the 1st floor control Or should the 1st floor be set to floor by room below & have the foundation control the slab?
  6. Plan attached What role should the foundation floor play in this plan. 68 Martinique.plan
  7. OK one of the floor structures was set to wood on the foundation. This is what I get when I Auto Detail
  8. When you create a section view what controls the fill for the Floor. The 2nd floor fills brown for wood but the concrete floor on the first floor does not have concrete on every floor. What is used to set this floor fill area?
  9. I mean the Core Catalog. So when you open up a New Drawing there is a template assigned to CA & the default walls are defined in that assigned template file. All walls available at the start up come from the default template? and not the Core Catalog?
  10. I have a house with block wall on first floor & frame wall on 2nd floor. I want to dimension to the exterior block surface on the first floor which works. But on the second floor I want to dimension to the plywood exterior & not the stucco skin of the frame wall. In my design the exterior of the block wall & the exterior skin of the frame wall are the same so the stucco is flush. I do not want to dimension to the surface as that may change to 1/2" siding on the 2nd floor. Ok, I answered my own question. Moving the sheeting down into the main Layer group & dimension to the Wall Dimension layer solved the problem. All i had to do is Align all exterior wall with Wall Below to finish the process. One question remains. Do i need to go to my template file and change all exterior frame wall definitions so the sheeting is in the Main Layer Group. The walls in the Main catalog can not be changed, correct?
  11. Oh me too. Thanks Graham, I missed that. I had to be told twice how to do it before it sunk in. Actually it usually takes more time than that. Thanks again. I am still struggling with all these methods.
  12. Glenn my hero. That worked great. Thanks so much.
  13. I don't care about shadows at this time, just color on, pictures showing and a full view of the wall. Perry could not get the light to work here but I am quite new to this stuff & too many setting to fool with. Glenn, What? I'll have to revisit the manual tonight but have no idea what a transparent mask is. Off to play some tennis. later Guys
  14. Thanks fellas for your time. Yes the intent was for interior views. I used the Back clipping section tool to get a full view without jumping through hoops to back the camera up. The view created (vector view is default) was good except that when sent to layout the color was lost & the art work diapered. So when I click "Standard View" & send to layout I get the color & the pictures but the view is dark.
  15. Thanks Perry I'll give it a try. Kevin the camera could not capture the entire view I wanted. Although I say in a VID the other day how to temp make walls invisible so you can back the camera up. May try that too. Although the light source may be the trick I was missing.
  16. Oh, not what I wanted the hear. Export the view & import a picture. PITA for any modifications that take place during the development process. It is hard enough to keep track of which sections need to be regenerated.
  17. Wanting a section view with color & pictures to show up I created a section view & then hit Final View w/ Shadows. (only option I saw) This created the view I wanted & sent to layout, but the view is a little dark. How does one control the lighting on this view?
  18. Reading the manual & experimenting I was able to load pictures directly to the Catalog. Yea! One bug I found is that the 2D block you assign to the new picture does not stick. You have to go back a second time & switch to your preferred block for 2D plan viewing.
  19. Looks like placing the pictures is best done in plan view? I now see where in the DBX that you can swap out the 2D block.
  20. Yes the background shows through perfectly. Thanks Greg, I have started using paint.net and it works the same but I did not realize I needed to use png file for transparent backgrounds. Thanks again.
  21. I don't care for the 2D block shown in the plan view for images, can I change that?
  22. I suppose the images are ok to post as they are all over the net. That is where I got them.
  23. So there is no solid material involved The picture is placed on the wall surface & is a stand alone object?
