I need to move the location of the house 20' south and 20' west. In ACAD I would move the site as it is easy to select all items outside the house. With CA the selection is clumsily. You shift select & if you catch anything that was selected it get unselected. Is there an easy way to select all but the house & it contents?

Just like any corner on a siding clad wall, with inside & outside corner molding. Or did you prefer a miter wall segment. Just kidding. I suppose you could extend that new wall 30 more feet to smooth things out. But this old farm house is quite ragged as it is. Why the pocket slider I have no idea, kinda crazy if you ask me. I have never seen the house in person, just a few photo's. The GC gave me a hand drawn remodel plan. He did use a ruler though.

Mick, Yes stair position changed & it's all aligned now. I'll try the paste in place, although the dormers are picky about being near another dormer. The non floating dormer complained about no wall present so I used floating dormers. I originally placed then in elevation view. So maybe because the 2nd floor is :Open to Below" the fell through to the 1st floor. PS the paste in place in the attic did the trick. I has to move then off the front wall to get them to trim the wall as it showed up in the windows. Now the outline is all that shows in the 2nd floor plan, perfect. Still have a framing issue but I'll delete or turn off framing as that roof is existing. Thanks

Looking at how the roof cuts the 2nd floor I'm not sure a 3rd floor would play nice with the design. No time to try it now, maybe later today.

OK I did the Floating dormer on 2nd floor plan view & they attached to the front wall but cut the railing on the other side of the room. That is fixable but still I don't want the walls & such showing on the 2nd floor plan, just a ceiling outline or nothing. Perhaps the Explode method is the way to go. I only want to see then on the attic plan & the elevations. Thanks fellas.

The dormers show up on the first floor plan. Actual I don't want them to show in the 2nd floor plan. This is a remodel & the dormers are not involved but I want then to show on the elevations views. But turning the Dormer layer off does not remove them. Keysville.plan

plan attached see kitchen On another plan I inserted a grouped dining room & when I unblocked it the table settings went under the table. Edgewood.plan

I have a cabinet & chairs with counter top that overhang the chairs but can't get the chairs to show under the counter. The Move to front tool does not work & the objects do not have a group selection option that I can see.

Good solution jon. How did you do the rock at the shore line?

OK I looked at the Terran Path (Stream) and the lakes (Terran Features) and both have the same material properties. Water with transparency and same index. I changed to Translucent & they then all looked the same. But the bottom was grass for all three objects.

In my world all things are possible.

I got the camera view I wanted. Hit Final view with shadows Then did Raytrace, stopped at 20 passes.

Well the scenario is that the "Find & Replace" will search every TEXT object & replace with a yes no form the user. It does not display the complete text or take you to that layout, Here is an example of Autocad Find & Replace. I entered 20## to find 20 followed by 2 numbers Then I have the option to replace or continue searching.

I just had to read every note in the layout file 17 sheets because I drop notes in the layouts to avoid cluttering the plan file. A simple FIND would have been useful. "suggested words", that would be too good.

I could do that for this particular item but in the future what is one to do? You can't put every part number or special text in a macro form. The "Find & Replace" is a basic text tool IMO. I am truly shocked that is not in this software. While I'm ranting, where is the "Change Text Case" tool?

OK, I have to update plans for the code change to 2014 code ILO 2010. I have this text in plan & layouts files & maybe a block. How does one do a "Find & Replace" of " 2010" in plans & layouts? As a bonus how about block with text in them?

And what you don't see is a layer that doesn't print, yes you can have non-printing layers in ACAD. This layer has all the engineering calculations & rectangles I use to calculate load based on areas of floor or roof components. I have a LISP i created which I select a rectangle & choose what load I want, floor or asphalt roof or tile roof. Then the LISP calculates the dead, live & total loads & I pick a place in the drawing to place this note. All this is on the non-printing layer & left in the drawing for future reference. Even you can not do that in CA.
