Hold on, Joe, I must have something else going on. I just place the new cooktop you made into the same location the other one was and it still has a rouge triangle just as before. could it be a partial custom countertop that I may have tried to install yesterday? Chief - PintoElevations.plan
-
Awesome! It works great. Is there any reason it would not cut a hole properly the first time I inserted? BTW, how did you place the cooktop in a counter top? Did you create a counter top with a hole then move the cooktop into place? Was the counter height important?
-
So let me see if I understand what you did. You took my symbol and added a custom countertop and placed a hole for the cooktop, then made it a symbol together and now it should insert to a cabinet correctly? Then I will only need to change the color of the top.
-
It was from 3D Warehouse. I would like to learn the process to insert from there too. But the forum wont allow me to upload an SKP file CooktopGas36.calibz
-
Thanks that worked, but how do I get access to adjust the counter top? After lowering the cooktop the cut hole is now a triangle rather than a rectangle.
-
How would I change the origin?
-
Ok, it will insert, but how do I get it to sit into the cut opening that was created and can I reduce the hole slightly?
-
How can I make a cooktop modeled in Sketchup or primitives automatically snap to a base cabinet and cut a hole in the counter like a sink does? Chief does recognize other library parts this way, Is it in the way I import a model?

"SolidWorks eDrawings" is a free viewer that works on both Mac and Windows and the file does have something on it. See the attachment.

Chief 3D Library Not The Same For Mac Users (Fyi)
4hotshoez replied to 4hotshoez's topic in General Q & A
I can see them all now. I am not sure what changed. It is the same logged in or out. It is not the browser either. Maybe I was just hallucinating. -
I am not sure how many users know this, but the available catalog / 3D Library for Mac users is significantly less than Windows users. I use both Mac and Windows and found that some of the libraries on my Windows computer is not available on my Mac. Is there a reason they are not for both?
-
Well, it is not that critical. I was just thinking there was a quick fix that I was missing.
-
So they are just backups?
-
Hmm, So it does not work. I was hoping for something I was missing. Maybe X7, as we did get a hint new cabinet configuration feature. Thanks for the work around ideas.

I am trying to import a dwg file to use in Chief. It may only be 2D because it will not show in 3D view. However, it does look 3D-ish in plan. I am looking for this model to input or a generic 5 burner gas cook top that looks similar. Here is the link: http://products.geappliances.com/ApplProducts/Dispatcher?REQUEST=SpecPage&Sku=PGP986SETSS

I need to move the trash drawer knob up, but when I gave it a dim from the top, both knobs moved. How do I move just one?
-
I said yes the first time and wondered if this was to delete files. So how do I know what to keep and which to delete? It did not seem very clear.

Why do I want to manage? How would I manage?
-
The verdict on the missing Polyline Solid: it was moved to a layer that was not "on" in the 3D layer set. I am just at the beginning of learning how to manage layers and layer sets. I prefer simple and less layers, but have not yet figured out what works best for Chief until I know more how Chief works my information.
-
Good point to know, but I know there are no other floors in this plan and when I first drew the polyline solid it was showing fine. It disappeared after adjusting the width, which I am sure was not connected to the vanishing act.
-
But if you look carefully at the screen shots provided you will see the elevation is 42" and a thickness of 1.25", I included this dialog window to show this info, because I knew someone might think what you are saying, because the polygon solid has ben on the floor before and I could not find it.

"I am guessing" Dennis Gavin is right. I do remember now that I changed the top to another layer. As it turns out starting to build and learn Chief is relatively easy at the beginning to produce a house, but knowing how to managing all the information in an effective way seems to be the bigger challenge. Nevertheless, I am still miles ahead of learning and working in SoftPlan, which is where I started on this project. I made CAD elevations then switched to Chief when I learned that I had to generate another 20 elevations. Creating the big stuff is easy, but get hung up for hours on clearing up the little stuff. It has been fun. The bonus is that you guys are a hoot.

I was taken from my computer for the rest of the day, other wise I would have. I am posting this from home with no plan access. I will try stuff in the morning, but if it does not work I will surrender the plan to the pack. Thanks

Scott, you have too much time on your hands. I will try out the suggestions when I get back to the office in the morning. I hope it just a layer setting, which is an easy fix, but I am not sure why it would have changed layer sets or visibility unless I changed the layer of the polyline ... shoot! I think I did. Well, it was fun to see all the responses any way. Sorry for posting my dumb mistake. Have fun with golf Scott.
