  1. The default corner cabinet has a 45 degree corner door. I know it can be changed as a saw in a video I can't find, so I am asking how do I change the diagonal door to 90 degree corner door or a curved door? The method escapes me. Easy? Thanks for your help.
  2. Curious, since I am still new, what situation would be advantageous to lock a wall end. Maybe the answer will help me too.
  3. Can I cut a groove into a cabinet frame with Chief? It will be a 1/4" bead that frames the inset door. Also, how can I create my own cabinet door and drawer? We build custom often and it has been a pain to go through libraries to find nothing I need.
  4. The millwork section has various 2D shapes (like CA-22) that can be used as extrusions, but how can I open them and edit to create my own by adding or changing a shape? Or even use one in a CAD detail?
  5. I have looked at all the libraries I have and do not find it. Is it a bonus Lib?
  6. Ah! I found it. "Use Interior Lintel". Now I need to create a profile. Thanks for your help.
  7. I regularly design openings with craftsman style head casing and crown. Currently I do not see a way to do that in Chief. Any ideas?
  8. The dormers walls or cheek walls are on the floor or cut by the bottom of the roof, But I noticed that yours do both like it should. I can now build a manual dormer, but I am likely missing a small step that makes the difference. I will attach another file I am working on, if you don't mind looking at it. Scheme03.plan
  9. What is going on under my dormer when I select the room? There are no invisible walls here and I can do nothing to change these "ghost walls" or is there? Scheme03.plan
  10. dshall, I did watch the video if that is what you are implying by reposting the same message. I was needing some clarification of the dormer wall as it has been tricky to do what I want as Chief tends to second guess my every move.
  11. dshall, how do you get the walls to go to the floor and trim to the bottom of the roof? I have tried manual building but only get one or the other.
  12. I have not used Space Planning in Chief yet, but Archicad has something similar called Zones as they are also 3D zones and provide visual feedback (like a glass house of colors), labels, and area/volume calculations. You can designate a zone of any size, shape and configuration, such as sloped ceilings. I believe they can overlap for various purposes to include net/gross space. Could the Space Planning feature be adapted for some of what users need? Or maybe they could be used as is?
  13. I have been learning roofs and dormers and have run into a few problems. 1. when edit the room to have no ceiling I see the sky as shown, but the exterior of the model shows it with a closed gable. How can I fix this? 2. The framing layer is bleeding through the finished wall, but the AutoDormer is placing walls for me. How can I fix this? Thanks
  14. its only a problem with the garage house wall, where it goes to 1/2 the garage wall. Ah, that must be the difference in my number. Good to know.
  15. I have read the reference manual definition for "Living Area" and using the rules, created my own poly-line to the outside layers etc. and come up with a slightly different number. Since I cannot SEE what Living Area is calculating, I don't rely on it any more. To bad though, it is a good tool for a guide for starting out, but not helpful without some visual feedback.
  16. Is there a system to the numbering of the training videos?
  17. In this image, the existing (white) 12" walls need to extend into the dashed area shown but will snap to corners rather than stretch into the right place. A small portion of the 12" wall needs to be new (dark), but will not break as it is too close to the corner. Also, next to the shower is a door being removed that needs to be filled in with new wall, but will not break as close to the wall as I need as it will snap to the wall intersection.
  18. The break is close to a corner and defaults to a corner rather than where I want it to break. Is there a setting to over-ride this feature?
  19. I am having a little trouble as Chief thinks it is smarter than I am, which may be true in this case. I have two basic wall types, new (dark) and existing (white). When I draw a new wall type on the end of an existing wall they join together and become either new or existing, but I want them to stay separated. How do I do this?
  20. Larry, I have not yet tried your suggestion of not exporting yet, but does this turn everything to 2D? Like fixtures and other library items? Because the export to DWG method imported polygon surfaces for the toilet and sink bowl, which I would rather not have. An outline would be better. Thanks for the tip.
  21. What I have done to create a demo plan is export a simple plan (dwg) of the existing building, make all to go to a demo layer with a dashed linetype then import back (just 2D lines) into the building model on a locked layer called demo. So now when I delete or move something, the dashed line shows from underneath. Any other ideas that you use?
  22. Thanks for picking that out, but how can I know that?
