Since you all are just guessing, I will attempt to explain in lieu of a picture. Imagine a gabled roof with the ceiling to the rafters, then directly behind that is another gabled roof slightly taller with the same pitch. There is a space on the wall between the two roofs that has siding on it, BUT on the inside the siding shows because the ceiling slope matches the rafters. I do not want siding to show on the inside. I want drywall. How do I do this?

They were set by the DBX. But they do not measure according to the DBX. The dim is 2 5/8" less than what the DBX say they should be.

The truss needs to be re-built. The roof height is set correctly and the truss was used to help solve a problem, but since the ceiling sets too low, I am not sure if the problem has been solved. Is this 2 5/8" difference going to be a consistent problem or does it change with the slope? Why does CA do this? It makes me question the accuracy and dependability of CA. Or is it my settings?

I believe now that my issue is a combination of hardware, software and data. It is a bit slow in plan, 3D and RT, but it is still manageable for now as I am not so fast myself. But I wanted to know what others experience is with this plan and what suggestions so I can plan ahead in building a model and in requesting a hardware upgrade for Christmas (hope). Nevertheless, as I learn more of CA, the models will only get more complex with terrain, landscaping, interior furniture and more realistic textures and lighting for RT. I have done some RT, but it is too time consuming for now in setting things up, adding detail that slows me down and RT time. Is there a lighting manager that allows you to control lights as a group after wiring them together like a light switch would? So far I have 300 lights and counting, which is a pain to go through the "adjust lights" dbx just to turn them on and off.

Does the "render" mean standard 3D camera view (openGL)?

There is a high poly cooktop in the kitchen. It may be hogging resources. The lanterns were CA default for outside wall lights. I may need to change those. The CAD file I am still referencing, but thanks for the tip, I will delete it as soon as I am done with it. I have been hiding interior objects while working on the roof and exterior. That did help significantly in orbiting with the mouse. I have like 200 lights and need to turn more off. So is a RAM upgrade the biggest bang for the buck for files like these? BTW, How do I fix the stair railing?

I tried the "negative number" thing and they do move up, but not all the way up. And the Great Room will be getting a cathedral ceiling and the height is variable and would be more work than I have time. Also do I need to exit the open plan even if I saved it, before I share it? Some Windows files must close or they do not allow others to open when shared.

I have a DropBox folder set up, but do need to put an email address for everyone who wants to download the file or is there another way?

How would I set up drop box so others can download and not see all the other junk in there?

I set the ceiling slope at 8:12 and the wall height is designed to be no lower than 60" but it places it 2 5/8" too low. In the Room dbx the framed wall is 61 1/8" and says that the finished ceiling will be 59 7/8", but measures at 57 1/4". What is going on and how do I deal with this craziness?

I am more of a Mac user on Windows, so how do I find the system specs in Windows?

The other question: Is there a location I can post the plan? Then I can provide a link as I likely have many questions on different threads for the same plan. No reason to post the same plan multiple times.

I have been thinking about posting the plan and have been wondering about confidentiality and copy-write issues. Not that I have reason not to trust people from this group, but how would I know? I could use the help but I need to ask how this works on the forum.

Yes, my mistake. How does that size compare to what most of you end up working with for a house of 7,000 SF? Assuming that people do houses of that size from time to time.

My 41 Kb plan file is getting slow. For example, it takes 6 seconds to "undo". What tips do users have to speed things up or is it a hardware problem only?

Recessed and all Chief lights will automatically go the the "room" ceiling and no higher even if there is "no ceiling" in the room. It stops at the specified ceiling height. And if the second floor is "open to below", the lights will not go up the the visible ceiling, only the invisible ceiling.

I was just using Sketchup and noticed that you can draw with both mouse methods, but if you click and hold the mouse button down and drag, you cannot pan and zoom in the middle of the action. Two points for Sketchup.
