How should this be filled? There is an auto-wall and a manual lowered ceiling and the gap between them. Does this need to be a manually created attic wall?

From the discussion here I chose to create a new layout then Select FILE > PRINT > DRAWING SHEET SETUP and the set the 30' x 42" paper I created in the pdf printer. Then pasted the titleblock I created. Then set it to print that size. It worked to start over, but I think I could have worked with it after seeing how it works. Thanks

I am making a pdf. Are there limitations for pdf's?

I am trying to change my sheet from 24"x36" to 30"x42", but it is not working well in the preview.

Doe anyone know what this is? and how to get rid of it? Lighting.layout

I figured it was easy. Thanks

I am planning to post it there after a bit, but I have been verbally attacked for making suggestions that they say Chief can do. So if others can verify that it is not a feature, I post it in the suggestions.

The lines have been missing for some time and I do not know how to get them back. I have checked layers and defaults, but I am not seeing it. Anyone?
-
I have created new layer sets and layers, then after completing the lighting layout I changed the objects to the new layers. Then placed the outlets. They are on two separate layers now, but any new lights and wires will come in on the default layers and will need to manually change them. This is not hard to do. But to alert myself, the layers are different colors. Nevertheless, I wish there was an option to create separate defaults.
-
Thanks, I get it now.

I have a large enough plan to justify a lighting plan separate from the outlet or power plan. But I noticed that both symbols default to the electric layer. If I need two plans for each, how have others kept outlets, lights and wiring separated on layers? I know I could create new layers and change them, but how do I get them to insert on the right layer?

A Few Problems With Walls, Doors And Base Mold
4hotshoez replied to 4hotshoez's topic in General Q & A
I was able to do a complex combination of settings to accomplish my first question with setting ceiling heights, ceiling thickness, making auto generated walls invisible and or making the second floor open to below. I do not remember what combination worked in the end. I still need to try number two. -
A Few Problems With Walls, Doors And Base Mold

I do appreciate all the help, but with all the learning of Chief and juggling 3 big projects and only just completing my second month in a new job, it has be like drinking from a fire hose. So some things have been falling through the cracks. I have not been able to try the techniques suggested here. Would it help if I send you flowers? -
Thanks Scott.

Does anyone use the new Mac Pro cylinder? It has many of the top qualification specs mentioned in this thread. Multiple cores, SSD, fast graphics and plenty of RAM. And it looks cool. I was wondering how well it works compared to a PC.

Sorry Jim, it was a typo. Corrected now. -
Sloped Ceiling Is Drawing 2 5/8" Lower Than I Designed

Thanks for your help. I had seen the videos, but missed one important and unintuitive aspect of drawing the ceilings on the outside layer of the wall. I was drawing them where the ceiling would go, on the inside. After setting this up the Cheif way it started to work. The video I saw never stressed that as an important point not to miss. That was a frustrating way to learn a slightly quirky aspect of Chief. I am not sure why it needs to be setup that way. It would seem that the by having only the inside bottom height would be simple enough to control a ceiling in the DBX and to draw the ceiling on the inside of the building rather than the outside. -
The problem was that I set up cameras on a small plan, but I forgot to save the cameras, then did a SAVE AS to make changes to the alternate design. The cameras came with the saveas, but they did not stay in the first version of the design. I realize my mistake so I was hoping there was a way to copy the cameras back to the first plan. I do not understand that if the cameras are objects, why can't they be copy and pasted from plan to plan? Anyway I was able to get by on this smaller project, but next time...

I have several versions of a plan and I would like all the view to match between versions after I have set the cameras up.

Sloped Ceiling Is Drawing 2 5/8" Lower Than I Designed

Now I have moved the ceiling base line to the outside wall layer and set the "Inside bottom ht to (second floor ht) 133 3/4" + (the desired wall ht) 60" = 193 3/4", BUT when I put a dimension string on the 60" high wall, it is only 59". I am still an inch short. -
Here is an image that shows the wall problem with the roof surfaces removed.

Ok I need to ask, how is a ceiling properly drawn? or What have I done incorrectly? -

So where should the baseline be located? -

I must be missing something because I set the wall framing ht to 60" + 1 1/8", which is what I thought controlled the ceiling ht. Then I am confused as to the difference between inside and outside bottom height. I have had to set the outside bottom height to 195 1/8" to get a finished height of 60", which is 2 5/8" more than (Floor height + wall ht) 133 3/4" + 60" = 194 3/4". The inside bottom height is 3 1/2" taller than the outside bottom height. Not making sense to me.
