Draw a section of your situation. Notching the bottom of stair stringer without a wall below to carry it sounds like a bad idea in text. Can you support it at the notch?

Here you go.

Those windows flanking the fireplace might look good as squares. Changing from the vertical rectangles on the other wall to horizontal rectangles is not my favorite in this case. If they are squares, breaking to a lower head height might work better.

My role is to guide and direct how I want things to look. My engineers role is to define sizes of member (etc.). There is often a back and forth after he presents his initial information where I sketch something out to work out how to get the look I am after and hope that is possible. Starting off with a rational direction at the beginning is helpful/critical to success.

I measure the inside and set my dimension locate to surfaces. If you have the correct wall assemblies it should be correct.

Here is an article that just came up in my Facebook feed:

Also, with O.V.E. methods, any window or doors 36" or less don't require structural headers.

Do some research into O.V.E. framing methodology. That can save you about 30-40% of your lumber.
One of my professors in school had designed some housing with nearly zero waste. Every rafter cut matched up to another jack rafter, etc. The roof was hip style and the pitch of the roof and size enabled each off cut to be used.
Fast forward to today, I usually order rafters min. 2' longer than needed due to the poor quality of wood available.

I miss the Car Talk guys. "Just write your answer on the back of a $20 bill and send it to..."

Call customer support. Or just post your credit card information in this thread. Be sure to include your zip code and the 3 digit security code on the back.

I did not try opening this in X8 and see if it gets fixed. I am about 5 minutes away from paying for my clients SSA so I can stop working in X7.
-
Yes. Just select whatever text and or dimensions and make your changes. You could also copy the area of the drawing you have as a detail to an actual cad detail and then work on it alone.
-
You need to adjust your text size in the plan file before sending to layout.
-
I am not sure what prompted this but this plan was working great until yesterday. This is done in X7. I can not get the garage on the first floor to believe that that rooms above all have the same ceiling height to be able to lower the garage ceiling. Maybe they don't and I am missing something. Help...

I fail to see the humor (or the car) in the image.

I would put questions to yourself before the business card.
1. What is your goal?
2. Who are you? Are you a designer? A drafter?
3. Who are your potential clients? Builders? Homeowners?
4. Do you have design training (or ability)?
5. Do you have an attorney for your business? (This is the only person who should write a contract. You need a contract.)
6. Do you have a web presence? You don't have to have your own website these days. You could set up a HOUZZ or Facebook page to showcase your work.
7. Do you have the time to take on new clients or are you busy building (general contractor)?

M-U-N-T-I-N! You say tomato, I say avocado. Mullions divide windows. Muntins divide pieces of glass within a window. PSA out.

New Plan points to your Template plan that you designate.
-
You need to update your template plan file. I believe you are opening a template file that was from Beta. Go to File --> Templates --->New Template From plan file, once you open a plan it will prompt you regarding associating this as your new Template file. This should lock it into the new plan file.

Curious. Can you notch the bottom of a stair stringer?

Also, I have moved to using LVL's for stingers. 2x12 dimensional lumber is just too unreliable for my comfort. I generally use 1 3/4" x 11 7/8" LVL material
