  1. I spent nearly $3000 and couldn't be happier. Chief is absolutely amazing software.
  2. Just fixed it ...by checking wall intersections through at start and end. Thanks Michael.
  3. Anyone have an idea why these lines appear and how to get rid of them? Thanks.
  4. It's not rare in Arkansas. In fact, it would be rare to see one without a foundation. And I do like most everyone else and draw porch foundations in manually. No big deal plus I never figured out how to get Chief to draw them for me.
  5. while I can't speak for anyone else, I am extremely grateful for all that you and so many others do for those like myself on this board. and, honestly, if it weren't for this board, I truly believe that I would be still struggling with much of Chief. I've only been here a few months but try to read each and every post and watch each and every video to gain a better understanding of Chief and what it can do. I'm blown away by the patience and generosity by the dedicated individuals on this board (like those you mentioned) who take time out their busy lives to answer trivial questions from those like myself and only hope that one day that I might have the skills to return the favor given to me. thank you!
  6. works fine on mine, too. and FYI... there is a roof plane sticking out below the ceiling of the small porch just off the breakfast area.
  7. I plan on doing the same. I'm currently running Chief on what many would consider an antique ....a mid-2009 macbook pro.
  8. David, Those are porch beams created with the railing tool. Oddly enough, I found a way to make the lines disappear and then reappear. If you click COPY on the curved wall in the front bedroom and then DELETE the front wall....the lines (and the curved wall) disappear. Then, if you click PASTE IN PLACE, the wall resumes it's position as do the weird lines. I have no idea. AJ2.0.plan
  9. Weird. I just saved the original to a different name.... and the lines disappeared. However, they continue on the original.
  10. Could someone please tell me why this is a double line instead of single over the back porch? I don't mind if it's double or single but I want it consistent. This happens to me on occasion and I have no idea why. There is a section of the front porch doing the same thing. Thanks.
  11. here is one way: >highlight a door on your plan >click Object Layer Properties >under Door Labels, click Default Label Style >choose larger text style (i changed mine to 1/4")
  12. How did you do the "text" on the front of the building? It disappears when I try this.
  13. for Windows users. ugh. guess us Mac guys are outta luck.
  14. Many, many thanks to both Eric and David for taking so much of their valuable time to teach this old dog a few tricks. I can't believe I didn't think about pushing the siding out just past the brick (to generate the frieze in the gables). After 35 years of framing/building, you'd think I'd know better. I was also wondering why I could not manually edit frieze...now I know.
  15. Hey guys and gals... I just purchased CA a few weeks ago and I must say that I am truly impressed with the capabilities of this program, thanks to the OUTSTANDING work I've seen in this forum -some truly amazing work which only makes me realize that I have a long, long way to go. I had no trouble with my first plan -a very basic single story home. The second is a different story as there are a few things I can't seem to fix. First is missing or incomplete frieze boards -particularly in the gables. Second, I can not figure out how to generate the missing angular wall sections of the second floor dormer and at least one of the main half gables. Third, I don't understand why CA won't generate a full return (or any for that matter) in the half-gable on the outer LAUNDRY wall. I'm sure there are other questions that I might have but those seem to be my main concerns for the time being. Thanks for any help and advice. SWG RWL.plan
