Patterns For James Hardie Siding?

Recommended Posts

I tried to use some of the James Hardie products on one of my projects and it looks like there is no pattern attached.  Have I missed something or is this a big disappointment for my construction drawings?  Having the correct product for Ray Trace is great but not if it doesn't translate into the plans.

call your hardie rep, they do have a sales brochure that shows each type of product, hardie wood finish, beaded lap etc also you may already have the colors, you will need to make your own material with the program, works great--they will send you the file location

good luck

I noticed that too Sherry. All the Hardie materials (the ones I've tried so far anyway) seem to only have the texture set, not an accompanying hatch/fill pattern.

You can add a pattern yourself though. Just edit the material.

That'll work for that particular plan, but unfortunately, it won't change the one in the library.

On a related note, do you find the colours look accurate? I find they look a bit off, especially the shingle textures. Maybe too much reflection in the texture images or something. I don't know. Could be me though!

I just tried to download the james hardie library from chief and I can not find it.. I wonder if they deleted it to fix this or if I missed out....

The default for the Hardie material is "Area". Change to strip with the adjust material tool.

Interesting... I don't see it there anymore either. Hopefully, like you said, they pulled it to fix it!

I'll give that a try. Thanks Jim. Hopefully they will change it in the library for an updated version.

I was just informed that the James Hardie catalog has been updated to include patterns.  Please update your catalog and let us know if you find any additional problems.

Thanks Dermot. I will update tomorrow. This catalogue is something I will use on 80% of my projects.

I've used CA for years and AutoCAD since 1985. (Yeah I'm old).
In Florida we do a lot of Block house plans. (CMU) 8x16x8 concrete blocks.
Other than manually placing block patterns. Does anyone have an easy way to do wall fill patterns to show the ACTUAL CMU BLOCK Pattern in plan view.
It would be great if it actually placed filled cells required for all window/door openings and corners. Any suggestions?

      Thanks

I've been recreating the "Paradise Rises" drawings as a learning exercise.  I get to this point (file attached) and noticed the eaves are boxed.  (I did start with a similar previous file and "Saved As" to save myself some time.)  I select rebuild roofs and uncheck the boxed eaves.  Then the siding on the upstairs bump outs disappear.  Ugh!  Very frustrating.  Of course, I rebuild the roofs and put the boxed eaves back.  Tried redrawing the walls.  Nothing seems to be working.

How do I get the siding to show up on in the gable? See attached pictures.. Also, what is the best way to align the eyebrows along the front?

      Thanks in advanced..

Has anyone done a log cabin?  I have a client that I am designing a deck and would like to do a rendering of the proposal.

Here is a photo of the client's house.  I have to somehow recreate a model in CA.
Has this already been done?  I can't seem to find anything close in the catalogues.

Is there a way to create a custom tile layout? I want to take a standard subway pattern and stagger it 1/3 rather than 1/2 with a specific tile size, 3.75 x 12.25. Thanks in advance.
