cliffy
I am attempting to place dormers on the steep roof section of a Georgian Gambrel house. I am having trouble with the ceilings (See attached pictures). Any help would be appreciated. Thanks
DavidJPotter
Is this an existing home or a home you intend to build? The dormer object ceiling is determined by way of its dialog box and in the case of a barn roof like you have, you may have to "explode" the dormers you have and manually edit them, especially if they need to encroach into the upper roof pitch (something that dormer objects are not automatically capable of. Please clarify your intentions. DJP
javatom
You may have intend the roof line to look like this but your roof planes are not lined up. That is why you are seeing a fascia board where the roof planes are trying to meet. Dormers react very strange when there are other problems in the roof system. cliffy
This is a home I intend to build. Dormer roof ties in below second roof plane.

javatom
I think you would have to create it manually not automatically.
DRAWZILLA
I think it's possible automatically Set the different pitches in the wall DBX
Alaskan_Son
I think it's possible automatically Set the different pitches in the wall DBXYou are correct. Definitely doable this way. Did this pretty quickly by...-Setting the 4 end walls (2 upper and 2 lower) as full gable walls -Opening the wall DBX for the 2 lower side walls, and under the roof tab, giving the roof an extremely steep pitch and an 8" overhang. -Opening the wall DBX for the 2 upper side walls, and under the roof tab, giving the roof a shallower pitch and a 2" overhang.
