lbuttery
Thomas: you are selling X5 WAY too cheap take the cost of a new license subtract the cost to upgrade X5 to X6 then knock off another $500 to offer a "savings" Lew
Alaskan_Son
The price has already been offered. It wouldn't seem right to change it now. I guess maybe if there hadn't been any offers to buy it yet that it might be okay. I would be surprised if it lasted this long though at that price. lbuttery
Mike: I think until a deal is made the offer can be changed no one would complain if was lowered .... Lew
Alaskan_Son
That sounds like flawed logic. When do you figure "the deal is made"?? Isn't that akin to the old bait and switch?? Oh well...I won't argue with you. As soon as I saw it posted though I gave the info to a friend of mine who has mentioned wanting to buy Chief several times over the past few years but likely couldn't afford it at full price. I would be a little upset if he told the OP he'd take it just to have the OP say "someone told me I should be asking more so it's this much instead." I would also feel bad for having wasted someone's time on a Sunday for no reason. That's just me though.
lbuttery
Deal is made when both parties say yes and "shake" until then .... watch Pawn Stars or American Pickers In real estate the deal is not done until the contract is signed verbal is not allowed Lew 1
rgfeher
Just my 2 cents Mike - gotta agree with you 100% Once the offer is made - it shouldn't be flexible simply because a better price offer comes along Far as I'm concerned, that is greed alone speaking without any morals I have seen this happen time after time - especially when disasters happen So, IMO, his stated offer should stand Sorry Lew if I don't agree with you on this one
lbuttery
Randy: that's ok because I still disagree what if he made a typo and meant $1775 ??? Lew
Doggies1954
He should check his typing before posting. Otherwise, if it was a typo, edit his post straight away.

Nicinus
An article that discusses this topic, not really sure what the conclusion is, but food for thought: http://www.nytimes.com/2013/09/22/magazine/garage-sale-arbitrage.html?_r=
lbuttery
Nicinus: yep, the buyer has no obligation to inform a seller the price is too low I have a friend who buys pipe collections for resale - usually from widows he and his partner will offer more than the asking price to be fair as long as they can make 50% which is the standard most dealers expect to get I have seen the American Pickers show where they get much more than they expect and they will share the excess with the seller If I ever bought an item at a yard sale for $1 and sold it for thousands I would share with the seller - it's just the right thing to do but the gist of this thread is that a seller can change their mind at any point prior to accepting the money On Pawn Stars I saw a guy sell a one-of-a-kind guitar for $35,000 he had been asking $50,000 they shook hands, yet by the time they brought out the cash he reconsidered and decided not so sell its the buyers product until money changes hands Lew
