dshall
With X7 we got the "cross block" for posts...... about time. But what about the auto posts for deck framing? Did we get the cross block for a deck framing post? I know I can select a post and put in a cross block, but that turns off auto deck framing. Thanks. Dermot
Open the Deck Room Specification dialog. Go to the Deck Support panel. Click Edit Post. Check Show Cross.
DRAWZILLA
It would be nice to also have cross boxes on Newels in railings b/c I like to use a railing wall (posts to beam) in a lot of porches and patio covers.
Bill_Emery
Hi Perry, you can already show a cross box for a deck post if you create your own deck post symbol, and create your own block for the 2D view
DRAWZILLA
Not talking about Deck posts, I'm talking Newels in railings in which I use several styles of them. Can't we get a check box for those also.
Kbird1
If you use a custom newel (post) as Bill suggests Perry instead of the Auto Newels, it should work fine but Yes I guess CA should do this auto like other posts
DRAWZILLA
I really don't want to limit myself to one type of newel and I really don't want to create 15 of them. I'm talking post to beam newels, they should also have a cross box.
Kbird1
Yep , I understood what you wanted , but am now wondering if the Beam wouldn't block the cross block's view ? would depend on the cut height perhaps?
DRAWZILLA
Yep, not if the beam has no fill and it also should be dotted. I just put those on a different layer that's dotted
Bill_Emery
Perry,] you only need to make one railing post. It automatically stretches in the x,y and z axis, and the cad block stretches automatically in the x,y axis.
DRAWZILLA
Ok, usually when you pick a newel you go to the lib. and choose one or 5 different ones, wouldn't I have to associate a cad block for each on of those. not sure I follow how it automatic for all the different types of newels. Bill_Emery
I'm sorry, I'm generally using square or rectangular stock for my deck posts, and the cross box resizes nicely. Yes, you would have to modify the newels or columns you commonly use to have a cross box.
DRAWZILLA
Thanks, I think it would be an easy fix if Chief would just add a cross box to that DBX also.
