agorres
Hi Experts.:) Please see the attached file. I have a multi-tier deck, I have it looking roughly the way it needs to, except the following issues: Kissoon Deck.zip 1. The area below the stairs between the upper & lower deck keeps creating walls below. I have tried room dividers, straight deck edge, railings with no room definitions. I suspect it has somethign to do with the wall/railing specification, and Gemini has been unable to help me. 2. If you look at the 2 plank border on the lower deck at the landing, it is jetting in a bit. My railing is straight. 3. The lower deck planks need to go in opposite directions, as shown, with a double border, around walls also. I am using a straight deck edge to separate the areas to change plank direction. At least one of the rooms will not generate the plank border. I assume this has to do with so many walls. Thank you for your assistance! agorres
I should add, we are keeping the existing deck framing, hence why that is not developed and why the automatic framing layer is turned off.
Mark3D
I had a go at it but no luck with auto matic tools, but chief has some manual tools to help https://www.chiefarchitect.com/videos/watch/306/using-the-trim-and-extend-commands.html https://www.chiefarchitect.com/videos/watch/337/mitering-framing.html those tools should working on the decking boards if there is not a better solution from others Edited August 26 by Mark3D
Garybills
@agorres #1 - Try Playing around with pony walls around the stair section, Lower wall being room divider. The outside railing needs a couple breaks and a little work to get it worked out and made the stair section a couple inches narrower and put railing on the wall. BTW I did this in X18 not knowing what version you are using. You might want to update your signature. Edited August 27 by Garybills
CarrieS
Here are my suggestions. 1. The planking will work better if we mark the landing as Framing Group 2 (Room Specification> Structure Panel) 2. You don't really need the wall going past the stairs on the outside. Things will work better without it. 3. Double up the invisible railings on the diagonal and make sure the two rooms don't connect at the corner. (it seems like we're detecting a collision of the planking and therefore cancelling out one side). Once you have the planking where you want it you can probably turn off the auto regenerate deck framing and connect the railings back together. DBCooper
If you don't want to see the hole under the deck, just open the terrain dialog and uncheck 'hide terrain intersected by building".
