Student2025
I have this complicated tile pattern that I was trying to place in Chief Architect; it kept leaving a sliver each time I tried to adjust the sizing (first photo). The second photo is a rendering from SketchUp. I ended up having to draw it myself. I couldn't figure out how to repeat the tile pattern in Chief to make it cohesive. I also tried the 3D material editor to move and adjust, but that didn't help much either. Can someone help me? I have been using Chief for about 2 years now as a student and 6m+ as a "professional designer," so I know I have a lot more to learn, but right now I am pretty much learning all of this on the fly for each design project I get. DBCooper
As far as I can tell, the "interactive material editor" will only let you offset, scale, or rotate a material. These are all things you can also do in the material definition dialog but it can be easier to see what you will get when working in a 3D view. If the actual texture is not right, then this tool probably won't help much. From your first picture, it looks like the problem you are having is that your material is not "tiling" or "wrapping" correctly. I think you need to be pretty good with a photo editor program to make a material like that so it will wrap correctly and look good when mapped on surfaces. I know it can be done, but I am probably not the right person to tell you how to do it. This sounds like something that the "material builder" might be able to do. I have seen some pretty good things done as examples but I have not played much with it myself so again I am not the right person to tell you how. There is a video about how to use it that may help get you started you though: https://www.chiefarchitect.com/videos/watch/10301/custom-tile-materials-new-material-builder.html
Mark3D
Here is a possible option, or if you could get a photo with your phone with even lighting no shadows and crop it so its tile able, this image shows as tile able. I imported it as a material after I scaled it in Canva and Photoshop and it wasn't much help because it's so intricate that every time it appeared to work there's either a slight sliver or worse the grout lines end up being staggered making the pattern appear different than it is. MollyNDG
@Student2025 Here are maps that will work for this tile. Due to the scaling of the hex, you'll have to change the Y Scale to 23 1/2" in the Define Material -> Texture panel. Should do what you're looking for with that, no slivers, it's a seamless texture.
