SC_drafting
I'm using x17 and can't for the life of me figure out how to export a zipped file small enough to share in chieftalk. I know there was a tool in older versions where you could export a zipped file directly from a program, but looks like its no longer around. I'd really appreciate a detailed walkthrough or a video to explain it. Now for an even dumber question- how do you imbed pictures in a post? Yes, I'm an idiot. Thanks for the help! No worries - we all start from somewhere. To post a .PLAN file, first make sure that the file is not open in Chief. This is an easy mistake -- otherwise, the file will show as a 0 KB (no content) file size. Then, you can create a separate .ZIP compressed file of that file (right click the file in Windows to get that option). A compressed Zip file will usually get the file small enough to post. You can drag and drop the file to your post. For images, you can drag and drop the file directly to your post. Or, you can CTRL-C (copy). SC_drafting Posted yesterday at 01:57 AM Author Share Posted yesterday at 01:57 AM Okay, I got that far, but it's still too big to attach. What next?
GeneDavis Posted yesterday at 04:05 AM Share Posted yesterday at 04:05 AM This presumes you need us to look at something in the building. Copy it, then strip the copy of all that is not stuctural. Remove terrain, fixtures, furniture, clean off any weird textures you may have applied, the file is to contain no plants, no people, no nothing but walls, floors, roofs, windows and doors. Just to add, you can remove anything not related to the problem — including windows, doors, and literally anything that doesn't alter the issue you need help with. Any file can be reduced to fit within the size limit. 15 hours ago, SC_drafting said: Now for an even dumber question- how do you imbed pictures in a post? Yes, I'm an idiot. Thanks for the help! At the bottom of the window where you compose your post, you should see a paperclip icon with "Drag files here to attach, or choose files..." So find the file and drag it into the window, or click Choose Files and navigate to it that way. Then, once you have attached the picture file, click in the post where you want it to appear, then click on the picture to add it. Renerabbitt
I'm not sure why no one is mentioning this yet but in this industry you really should have a cloud service and give us a link to the download.
