Tray Ceiling gone wild

Has anyone run into this before? Ceiling goes from 12' in Great Room to 10' in Kitchen and when I try to add a tray ceiling in the Kitchen, this is what happens... (see before tray is added, and then after)...

I think that is an issue with tray ceilings not liking room dividers between rooms.  There might be some workarounds but I don't know them off the top of my head so you might want to search this forum to see if you can find some older posts.  The easiest solution though is probably to just hide the hole using something like a poly solid or wall material region.

Have you checked "recess into ceiling" on that Tray Ceiling dbx?

Well hmmm...  I do trays all the time, some with room dividers, and don't have issues like this.  Can you post this plan and let one of us look at it?  It's got to be a setting or something.  Even the ceiling in the living area looks different.

This is a known issue with the Tray ceiling tool and invisible walls (room dividers) or at least looks like what I have seen before, in which case I use the Old Method of room polyline + convert to solid.
